When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing. There are no scheduled office hours this week, if anyone needs to get into the church building, please contact Jennie by Tuesday afternoon to make arrangements. Pastor Lori will be off this week, Monday, August 15th – Friday, August 19th. All pastoral emergencies are being covered by Pastor Eric Luczak, 570-702-9808. The church offices are now being locked. If anyone needs assistance or information from the offices, please come during the weekly stated hours. There are mail slots outside Jennie’s office, any flyers or information can be found there. If you would like to leave anything the bottom two slots will remain open for that purpose. Reminder - Construction continues in our courtyard area. We would like to thank Billy Havenstrite for taking on this project for his Eagle Scout. If anyone is available to help next Saturday, they will be working from 8am-1pm. We will be updating our Prayer List every month, if you would like someone to remain on our prayer list after one month, please let us know so we do not remove them.

Ministries and Missions / Community Collections: *** MUMC DONATION STATION *** The MUMC Donation Station is located in the narthex of the church building: is located in the narthex of the church building: For the month of August we will be collecting items for Mission Central. With the floods in Kentucky and the wild fires continuing to rage, they are in need of Blessing Kits and Care Kits. Some of the items they are looking for are (all items must be new): hand towels, wash cloth, hand sanitizer, disposable cleaning wipes, travel sized toiletries, first aid items, notebooks, pens, reusable water bottles, poncho, blankets, drawstring bag (water resistant, preferably plain), feminine hygiene products, comb, metal nail file/clippers. If you would like to donate an entire kit, you can find the instructions in the mail slots outside the church office. Infant Hat Collection: Thank you to those who continue to donate hats. If you are unable to knit or crochet but would like to contribute, you can donate

yarn for others to make the hats. Information on which yarns are best can be found with the hat patterns. Food Pantry & Dry Goods Pantry – Most Needed Items of the month: Food Pantry- soup, canned potatoes, canned pasta Dry Goods Pantry – paper products We are collecting plastic bags and other stretchy plastic, which will be turned into an outdoor bench when we reach 500lbs. So far we have reached our goal for our first bench. We continue to collect aluminum tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Scranton. MUMC Power of Prayer Network – If anyone is in need of prayer, please contact Cis Lyon, Pastor Lori, or Jennie, so your requests can be given to the Power of Prayer Network. The MUMC Learning Tree Preschool spots for the 2022-2023 school year are filling up fast. The Preschool Age Class does have a waiting list. If you or someone you know would like to enroll their child, applications as well as other information can be found on our

website under the “Ministries” section. The Preschool Board is in need of a financial representative. Spiritual Enrichment Opportunities: Christian Connections virtual Bible study will meet Tuesday evening, August 23rd at 6:15. Please join this group for spiritual enrichment and strengthening of relationships. Upcoming Activity and Event Information: Vision Team: The Vision Team is scheduled to meet again on August 31st to continue discussions from the book entitled “Small Church Check Up”. The book provides many questions to ponder that lead churches to move toward a hope filled future. CPR/AED Class: If anyone would like to sign up for a future class, please contact Jennie in the office, or add your name to the list on the table in the Narthex.
