Like Moscow United Methodist Church on facebook MUMC has received a grant through the United Methodist Communications organization so that six days each week a spiritually engaging post is made to our church facebook page. This post is designed to engage people in encountering God and deepening in faith. The more people who Comment on these posts, Like the Moscow United Methodist Church facebook page and Share it with their friends, the more effective these posts will be in attracting new people to interact with our church. It’s a wonderful opportunity for outreach. Let’s get the word out! Consecration Sunday Is ComingCongregations that approach financial stewardship from a biblicalperspective do not view the money Christians give to their church merelyas a way to pay its bills. Rather, such congregations see financialcontributions as a way to help people grow spiritually in their relationshipwith God by supporting their church’s mission and ministry with apercentage of their incomes. Our congregation’s administrative committees have selected the NewConsecration Sunday Stewardship Program as a way to teach the biblicaland spiritual principles of generous giving in our stewardship educationemphasis this year.New Consecration Sunday is based on the biblical philosophy of the needof the giver to give for his or her own spiritual development, rather thanon the need of the church to receive. Instead of treating people like
members of a social club who should pay dues, we will treat people likefollowers of Jesus Christ who want to give unselfishly as an act ofdiscipleship. New Consecration Sunday encourages people towardproportionate and systematic giving in response to the question, “Whatpercentage of my income is God calling me to give?”During morning worship on Consecration Sunday, we are asking ourattendees and members to make their financial commitments to ourchurch’s missionary, benevolent, and educational ministries in thiscommunity and around the world.Every attendee and member who completes an Estimate of Giving Carddoes so voluntarily by attending morning worship on Consecration Sunday. We urge people to attend who feel strongly opposed to completing a card. The procedure is done in such a way that no one feels personalembarrassment if he or she chooses not to fill out a card.We will do no home solicitation to ask people to complete cards. Duringmorning worship our guest leader will conduct a brief period of instructionand inspiration, climaxed by members making their commitments as aconfidential act of worship. We will encourage participation in Consecration Sunday events throughthe Consecration Sunday team and our administrative committeemembers. Since we will make no follow-up visits to ask people to completetheir cards, we will make every effort to inform, inspire, and commiteveryone to attend Consecration Sunday worship. Thanks in advance for your enthusiastic participation in ConsecrationSunday events.Administrative Council Chairperson,Howard McIntosh
