Pastor’s Letter See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:19 What an overwhelming, overflowing Christian experience it has been coming to the Moscow UMC! A big THANK YOU for all the kindness that has been and continues to be extended to myself and my family. As I settle in, I look forward with great anticipation of all God has in store for us to accomplish together. Each of us has spiritual abilities to serve our Lord and this is a church community ready, willing, and able to share the Good News of Christ to nurture one another, the surrounding neighborhood, and beyond. Our time of being in ministry and mission will be an incredible journey of faith that will surely express God’s presence and spread amazing grace for all to experience the living Lord in their midst. As the prophet Isaiah communicates God’s words to the people, he does so with obedience. He has had to tell the people a message of hardship and judgement, yet now the message is changing to one of hope for the future. God would bring them out of captivity, just as he had brought release and care to their ancestors. In the above verse, God is proclaiming to be doing a new thing that will take root, grow, and expand. Not only would they be freed from the state they were in, but also, God’s message of deliverance and redemption would eventually reach all people through the sacrifice of Christ. New paths were going to be opened in the wilderness and in the seeming wastelands of life, no longer would there be wandering or a sense of defeat. Victorious hope of divine proportions would become available to humanity. It was ALL made possible out of the immense LOVE God has for the entirety of creation. Do you perceive it? Are you living in the perfect, steadfast love of God? Our Lord blesses us with a fresh beginning every day and the promise of eternity is written in our hearts. We don’t have to envision or understand it, simply live it with intentional awareness for we are surrounded by it and we are gifted with it. God has given us a new season to be in ministry together as Christian community. We are blessed and blessed to be blessings of God’s grace to others. As we shine God’s light of forgiveness, love, and hope, may this promised, timeless message transform lives bringing all people to perceive the meaningful joy of living that awaits them in believing, accepting Jesus as their personal Savior. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
