Rejoice for the Lord is in our midst. Leader: He comes with joy and hope. People: He comes to set us free from fear.

Leader: There will be some who will cling to their fear. People: But the parade has begun. Sing for joy! The King of Salvation comes! All: Hosanna in the highest! Amen. *Opening Hymn “Tell Me the Stories of Jesus” UMH#277 Tell me the stories of Jesus I love to hear; things I would ask him to tell me if he were here: scenes by the wayside, tales of the sea, stories of Jesus, tell them to me. First let me hear how the children stood round his knee, and I shall fancy his blessing resting on me; words full of kindness, deeds full of grace, all in the lovelight of Jesus' face. Into the city I'd follow the children's band, waving a branch of the palm tree high in my hand; one of his heralds, yes, I would sing loudest hosannas, \"Jesus is King!\" Children’s Time Blessing of the Infant Hats

Psalm Reading Psalm 118:1-2, 19-29 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let Israel say: “His love endures forever.” Open for me the gates of the righteous; I will enter and give thanks to the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord through which the righteous may enter. I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation. The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad. Lord, save us! Lord, grant us success! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. From the house of the Lord we bless you. The Lord is God, and he has made his light shine on us. With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar. You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Special Music “Wondrous Love” Carol Hess Gospel Reading Luke 19:28-40 After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’” Those who were sent ahead went and found

it just as he had told them. As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?” They replied, “The Lord needs it.” They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road. When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” Leader: The Word of God for the people of God. People: Thanks be to God. *Praise Hymn “Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart (v1&5)” UMH#160 Rejoice, ye pure in heart; rejoice, give thanks and sing; your glorious banner wave on high, the cross of Christ your King. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, give thanks and sing. Praise God who reigns on high, the Lord whom we adore, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, one God forevermore.

Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, give thanks and sing. Message Grand Entrance Prayer of Confession: (in unison) Like the people who greeted Jesus as he entered Jerusalem and later declared, “Crucify him,” we are indecisive people who often deny Christ in our thoughts, words, and deeds. We confess that our praise of your majesty has often been faint, for we have surrendered to the enemy by our secret and our known sins. For our treason you died, Lord Jesus. For our restoration, you rose again. Draw us closer to you in this Holy Week. Open our hearts to the wonder of your grace. Silent Confession Words of Assurance *Hymn of Response UMH#280 “All Glory, Laud, and Honor (v1-2)” All glory, laud, and honor, to thee, Redeemer, King, to whom the lips of children made sweet hosannas ring. Thou art the King of Israel, thou David's royal Son, who in the Lord's name comest, the King and Blessed One.

All glory, laud, and honor, to thee, Redeemer, King, to whom the lips of children made sweet hosannas ring. The company of angels are praising thee on high, and we with all creation in chorus make reply. All glory, laud, and honor, to thee, Redeemer, King, to whom the lips of children made sweet hosannas ring. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. Weekly Reminders Tithes and Offering The Week Ahead

*Hymn of Sending Forth “Hosanna Loud Hosanna” UMH#278 Hosanna, loud hosanna, the little children sang, through pillared court and temple the lovely anthem rang. To Jesus, who had blessed them close folded to his breast, the children sang their praises, the simplest and the best. From Olivet they followed mid an exultant crowd, the victor palm branch waving, and chanting clear and loud. The Lord of earth and heaven rode on in lowly state, nor scorned that little children should on his bidding wait. \"Hosanna in the highest!\" that ancient song we sing, for Christ is our Redeemer, the Lord of heaven our King. O may we ever praise him with heart and life and voice, and in his blissful presence eternally rejoice!

*Benediction “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name” Postlude
