Opening Prayer *Call to Worship Leader: On that first day, when time began; People: God gave birth to creation, light danced through the darkness; the waters of hope flowed free and clear. Leader: On that first day at the Jordan, when redemption began; People: God spoke of life for all his children, as his given Child stepped into the waters of forgiveness, dancing in hope with his cousin, John. Leader: On this first day of the week, when we begin anew; People: God calls us to faithfulness, as we open our hearts to his voice claiming us as his own. *Opening Hymn “Spirit Song” UMH#347 O let the Son of God enfold you With His Spirit and His love Let Him fill your heart and satisfy your soul O let Him have the things that hold you

And His Spirit like a dove Will descend upon your life and make you whole. Jesus, O Jesus Come and fill Your lambs. Jesus, O Jesus Come and fill Your lambs. O come and sing this song with gladness As your hearts are filled with joy Lift your hands in sweet surrender to His name O give Him all your tears and sadness Give Him all your years of pain And you'll enter into life in Jesus' name. Jesus, O Jesus Come and fill Your lambs. Jesus, O Jesus Come and fill Your lambs. Children’s Time Old Testament Reading Isaiah 43:1-7 But now, this is what the Lord says he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” Special Music Ashley Greening Gospel Reading Matthew 3:11-17 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Leader: The Word of God for the people of God. People: Thanks be to God. Message Baptism of The Lord *Hymn of Response UMH#252 “When Jesus Came to Jordan” When Jesus came to Jordan To be baptized by John He did not come for pardon But as the sinless one He came to share repentance With all who mourn their sins To speak the vital sentence With which good news begins. He came to share temptation Our utmost woe and loss For us and our salvation To die upon the cross So when the Dove descended On Him the Son of Man The hidden years had ended The age of grace began. Come Holy Spirit aid us To keep the vows we make This very day invade us

And every bondage break Come give our lives direction The gift we covet most To share the resurrection That leads to Pentecost. *Profession of Faith The Apostles Creed UMH#881 I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;* the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic** church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. TIME OF PRAYER Concerns - Corona Virus Pandemic, Our United Methodist

Denomination, Our Country and Leaders, All Military Troops, Linda Guse Family, William Seamans Family, Larry Napolitano family, Maureen Bardzilouskas family, Carolyn Parise Family, Frank Ciero, Sr., Dana Nelson and Family, Sharon DeLucy, Ray Roese, Sandy Herman, Darin Caputo, Unspoken Requests, Those Suffering in Silence Joys – return of Sunday School after the holidays Silent Prayer Pastoral Prayer The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, Forever. Amen. Weekly Reminders Tithes and Offering The Week Ahead *Hymn of Sending Forth TFWS#2008 “Let All Things Now Living”

Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving To God the creator triumphantly raise. Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us, Who still guides us on to the end of our days. God's banners are o'er us, His light goes before us, A pillar of fire shining forth in the night. Till shadows have vanished and darkness is banished As forward we travel from light into light. The law God enforces, the stars in their courses And sun in its orbit obediently shine; The hills and the mountains, the rivers and fountains, The deeps of the ocean proclaim him divine. We too should be voicing our love and rejoicing; With glad adoration a Song let us raise Till all things now living unite in thanksgiving: \"To God in the highest, Hosanna and praise!\". *Benediction
