A mission invitation for all our community … Square Dance Saturday November 18, 2017 5:30 to 9:30 pm Line Dancing at 5:30 pm Food for Sale Tickets $7 – Bring a dry goods pantry item and receive a free menu item of your choice. Items needed are: Toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, dish liquid, laundry detergent, soap, toothpaste, cleaners, etc. A portion of the proceeds to be donated to the North Pocono Food & Dry Goods Pantries Tickets are available in advance AND at the door – call Beth @ 570-842-7755 Also, if you can bring some food – call BethChurch Conference - Sunday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m.All the churches in the North Pocono UMCcluster will meet at Moscow UMC for our annualchurch conferences. A little while back, a church member suggested we have a monthly notice about one of our church funds to help our congregation know about our church finances and the different funds Moscow United Methodist Church has to better understand how they operate in support of our ministries. With our e-newsletter format, we present this month’s:MUMC’s Financing of Ministries for Christ We are moving through Moscow United MethodistChurch’s annual Thanksgiving season stewardship and giving program,“Extravagant Generosity, the Heart of Giving”. It’s spiritual themes are based onour heartfelt gratitude for God’s goodness to us in our lives and through the church.Our congregation has been reflecting with thanksgiving on what our faith, thechurch, and the important people in our lives means to us. If you haven’t had achance to see what your friends are saying, look for the posts of Heart Cards allaround the church and see how awesome MUMC is! Now we are all asked toenvision what God wants for us and our church in the future as we commit our livesto that vision through our financial generosity.Estimate of Giving cards explaining our church’s giving program have been givenout in church and mailed to all our church family and friends. We are asking all toprayerfully consider how God might use them through our church to help in themaking of disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. On theestimate brochures, you will see why your financial generosity and committing togive helps us grow in discipleship and creates our ministries at MUMC.The Estimate of Giving brochure encourages us all to think about stepping out infaith and stepping up our giving a percentage point this year if we are able.Information about giving through automatic monthly bank withdrawals is alsoprovided. This helps our church tremendously as our treasurers know a certainamount of money will come in at the beginning of each month to help us pay ourbills throughout the year.

You will also see that you can choose to divide your contribution between ourchurch’s General Fund and the Maintenance Fund. The maintenance fund helpsprovide for our considerable building annual maintenance and minor repairs, snowremoval, insurance and some fuel expenses. The General Fund provides for theremaining building overhead and utility expenses, administration, and worship,spirituality, and mission and outreach ministry expenses.Thank you to those who have already turned in their estimate of giving cards!!!You are our spiritual leaders in showing your love of our church. If you haven’t hada chance to drop off your estimate card, please bring them to church this Sunday andin the coming weeks. You can also mail them to the church. Please know all yourgiving and financial information is kept confidential. Should your life situation,financial situation, or your family’s decision about giving change you can easilyadjust your giving commitment. Your giving helps youbecome what God wants you to be because God uses our generosity to help us grow,to create new life in us, and to foster in us “the mind that was in Jesus Christ.”Philippians 2:5Bishop Richard Schnase says, “The practice of generosity describes a Christian’sunselfish willingness to give in order to make a positive difference for the purposesof Christ…Generosity is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, a worthy spiritual aspiration.”Thank you for the many ways you show generosity toward God’s work throughMoscow United Methodist Church.
