Silently now I wait for thee Ready my God thy will to see Open my eyes, illumine me Spirit divine. Open my ears that I may hear Voices of truth thou sendest clear

And while the wave notes far on my ear Everything false will disappear. Silently now I wait for thee Ready my God, thy will to see Open my ears illumine me Spirit divine. Open my mouth and let me bear Gladly the warm truth everywhere Open my heart and let me prepare Love with thy Children thus to share. Silently now I wait thee Ready my God thy will to see Open my heart illumine me Spirit Divine. Children’s Time Epistle Reading 1 Corinthians 12:12-20, 27 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do

not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. Special Music Carol Hess Gospel Reading Luke 4:14-21 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Leader: The Word of God for the people of God. People: Thanks be to God. Message Sharing Our Faith Stories Beth Czulada TFWS#2130 Mark Chmielewski Hymn “The Summons (v 1 & 5)” Will you come and follow me if I but call your name? Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same? Will you let my love be shown, will you let my name be known, will you let my life be grown in you and you in me? Lord, your summons echoes true when you but call my name. Let me turn and follow you and never be the same. In your company I’ll go where your love and footsteps show. Thus I move and live and grow in you and you in me! Ray Roese Abby Havenstrite *Hymn of Response UHM#593 “Here I Am Lord (v1 & 2)” I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry.

All who dwell in dark and sin, My hand will save. I, who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear My light to them? Whom shall I send? Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go, Lord. If You lead me. I will hold, Your people in my heart. I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne My people's pain. I have wept for love of them, They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, Give them hearts for love alone. I will speak My word to them. Whom shall I send? Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard You Calling in the night. I will go, Lord. If You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart. Cherish the Gift written by Dawn Biesecker

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, Forever. Amen. Weekly Reminders Tithes and Offering The Week Ahead *Hymn of Sending Forth UMH#557 “Blest Be the Tie That Binds” Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love; the fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above. Before our Father's throne we pour our ardent prayers; our fears, our hopes, our aims are one, our comforts and our cares. We share each other's woes, our mutual burdens bear;

and often for each other flows the sympathizing tear. When we asunder part, it gives us inward pain; but we shall still be joined in heart, and hope to meet again. *Benediction Postlude
