England Culture January 1 is the New Year's Day, activities in the country are Feasts are held across the country and Hogmany is held in Edinburgh. It is the largest celebration in the country and is held as a public holiday. 1

Thai Culture There will be merit making, offering food to monks, listening to sermons, releasing birds and fish to bless each oth er. Bring gifts to pay respect to elders to receive blessings. There is a festivity in the house. 2

Important days Example 1 What’s today? It’s Wednesday, January 1st It’s New year’s Day. What do you usually do on this day? I usually give food to the monks. 3

Study more Where did you spend your summer holiday? I went on a homestay with Chanoknan’s family in Bangkok. Did you enjoy yourself? At first, I was homesick. I could not understand what they said and I could speak Thai a little. Later on, it was OK. 5
