Sterling Heights Inspectors were in Rochester Hills 1 hour performing 1 inspection. . CITY OF ROCHESTER HILLS Building Division 2022 2nd QUARTER INNOVATIONS  The Building Department completed a very detail 7 oriented audit as part of the Department’s IAS Accreditation renewal.  The Building Department processed the first electronic land division application.  The Building Department set up an automated inspection cancelation process that sends a text to the inspector’s phone.  The Building Department set up the new Camino program and is now capable of performing virtual inspections with the latest technology.  The Building Department updated the emergency operations plan.  The Ordinance Manager hosted the Spring HOA Forum on April 20th, 2022.  The Ordinance Manager completed a new policy for pepper spray for the Ordinance staff. The Ordinance Inspectors completed the required training for the use of pepper spray in an Emergency.  The Hoarder Response Committee continued to meet with Oakland County Health Department, Oakland County Sheriff’s Department and the Rochester Hills Fire Department to create a process to help with hoarder situations when they are discovered.

CITY OF ROCHESTER HILLS Building | Ordinance | Facilities 2022 2nd QUARTER ACCOMPLISHMENTS  Rochester Hills was noted in The Home Builders Association Magazine for being #1 in Oakland and Macomb Counties for the number of multi-family building permits. We were also noted as #5 for new single family permits.  Esther Chirodea and Chitra Neelakantan obtained their ICC certification for Permit Technician.  Mark Artinian obtained ICC Certification for Accessibility.  The Building Department Director, Scott Cope, retired after 38 years.  Michael Viazanko was named new Building Department Director.  Jodi Welch accepted our offer to become our new Manager of Ordinance Services.  Matt Wells and Dillion Morgan hired as Ordinance Inspectors.  Tony Tomasin discovered that his cell phone has the capabilities of translating in many different languages. While conducting an inspection for a new sushi restaurant he utilized this option to communicate with the owners.  Jay Fakhoury was contacted by an architectural firm seeking his advice on a design option for a project in another community. His knowledge is well known in our industry!  Customer Service continues cross training staff so they are able to help out when necessary. 8

CITY OF ROCHESTER HILLS Building | Ordinance | Facilities 2022 2nd QUARTER ACCOMPLISHMENTS  Facilities completed the City Clerk and Auditorium project under budget and before the deadline.  The proposed budget was submitted for the upcoming 2023- 2025 budget years.  The Rochester Hills Building Department hosted multiple events to promote National Building Safety Month.  Members of the Building Department attended an in-person damage assessment training hosted by the Oakland County Building Officials and Oakland County to be prepared in the event of a disaster.  The Building Director met with the Home Builders Association to discuss a partnership on future projects.  The building inspectors continue to perform free deck inspections for residents that have signed up during the month of May.  The Assistant Finance Director from the City of Southgate, called to get help on how to use, set-up and implement the BS&A PZE process.  The Building Official for Farmington Hills requested a list of positions we have in our Building Department.  Shelby Township called to see how Rochester Hills implemented our electronic permit plan review and field inspection processes. 9

CITY OF ROCHESTER HILLS Building Division GOALS FOR 2022 BUILDING DIVISION  Updated our Building Department emergency plan.  Field inspectors to attended emergency operations and damage assessment training. CUSTOMER SERVICE  Developed a five year technology plan for the department.  Installed and implement Camino's Virtual Inspection Program and Provide training for Inspectors  Lisa Knudsen & Chitra Neelakantan are working on our new Camino Permit Guide that will be available on our website. When completed, this guide will help customers find answers to their questions and provide them with a checklist to help prepare them for their project submission. Meetings will be conducted with all community development departments, including the Fire Department, to create processes, links to forms and develop the guide for our website. - in progress 10
