The Tree and the Man Once upon a time, there lived a man, who was going to the forest. One day, he wanted to do an experiment and make something. He wanted to cut a newborn plant. But when he was about to cut the plant, there was a noise. “Don’t cut me”. Tin looked around himself but he could not find anyone. So he started cutting again. But the same sound came again. ”Please don’t cut me… O please, don’t cut me”. The man was surprised that the little baby plant was talking. “So you are talking to me and what do you want,” The man asked. Then the baby plant replied. ” Please stop cutting me. Why are you cutting me?”.

The man said I am doing an experiment. Now, don’t interrupt me. Then the mother who was near the baby plant said “Oh please, don’t cut my baby. Tell me what did he do? What are you going to do?“.

The man said, “There is no forest in our country because they cut down all the trees in the past. Now my people need wood to build their house and to get warm.” The mother tree said, \"What’s the weather like there? Is it rainy?\" The man replied, \"No, it's not raining as much as it used to and we don't know why.\" The mother tree replied, \"Because you cut down all the trees, you do not have a humid climate. Especially in humid areas such as forests, it rains more. If you cut down the trees in this forest, all the plants and animals will get harm, they will dry out and die day by day.\"

The man was surprised and sadly said, \"You're right, I'm sorry. We shouldn't cut down trees. And what about the people in my country? Can you help us?\" The mother tree replied, \"I will talk to my plant friends in the forest and we will give you a lot of seeds. Plant them in your country and take good care of them. You can stay here with us until your country blooms again. You can eat the fruits of the forest. We can warm and protect you.\"

The man accepted this offer and took the seeds and happily returned to his country. He and his people planted the seeds. They lived together in the forest in harmony until their country blossomed.

Conservation & Fresh Water IES Vega de Mijas, Mijas Costa, Spain Teacher: José Juan Herrerías Written by Pedro, illustrated by Lucia Short Story Part 1 José Juan Herrerías

The Water Wizard Once upon a time, there was a girl who always took a shower with too much water. One day water didn’t fall and she was really scared and when she left the tub she felt really dirty. In a park nearby, there was another girl who was crying because there was no water in the fountain. One of her friends offered her to go to her house to get some water to drink. They both went to the second girl’s house and tried to get a glass to fill it in with some water form the tap. She was amazed because she didn’t know there wasn’t any water there either.

One of the neighbours in the building was talking to everyone complaining that he didn’t have any water at home. He could not start his washing machine, he couldn’t wash the dished or have a shower. Everyone in town thought that there was a leak or some of the water lines were broken down, but when they spoke to the mayor, he said that it was not the city council’s fault. This was not simply a supply cut down. There was nothing to fix either. The water supply had simply disappeared.

They switched on their televisions and radios and there she was, The Water Wizard. He was telling this: “You have been wasting your current water for years. Humans thought that the water flow was infinite and it would last forever. Now you will suffer the consequences of throwing chemicals to the rivers and plastic bags to the sea. You filled your nice swimming pools in summer and then you threw away all this valuable water….”

She felt guilty and asked to the wizard what can they do about it. The Water Wizard said they should complete these 4 missions : 1-Make and hang posters about water conservation, 2-Replacing water taps with more saving taps, 3-Use water more sparingly, 4-Make people aware of the importance of water by making festival about saving water She immediately got to work without wasting any time and asked some of her friends to help her. They made very nice posters organised a perfect festival about water conservation and changed the taps with Water-Saving taps.

Finally the festival day came and all the neighborhood attended it. They prepared perfect poems, conversations and plays. The Water Wizard came to the festival, saw the girl and went to near her. She didn’t recognize him at first The Water Wizard said “I’m The Water Wizard” and they talked about all of the projects.

Moreover, The Water Wizard gave them back their water. Everyone was conscious after that day and no one wasted water again. They understood that no water=no life.

Natural Disasters & Pollution Yes, I am POLLUTION, the greatest enemy of the Earth. Which infects the environment with materials that affect human health. But know that in most cases they come from human activities. The biggest problem caused by pollution is global warming, caused by the accumulation of atmospheric gases, such as carbon dioxide. You also pollute the water when the fertilizer is dumped into lakes and rivers. They are also harmful to the soil, which can affect plant growth, human and animal health.

I also have a harmful effect on human life Natural disasters, which can cause loss of life, damage, property damage, damage to the environment. Protect the ENVIRONMENT!

Yes, I am a natural disaster.I am the general name given to disasters that directly threaten the world and human life and that occur due to completely natural causes. At the same time, I can occur directly due to reasons such as negligence, carelessness, environmental pollution, in which you, human being play a key role. I can occur in many various types in human life. Earthquakes, fires, floods, tornadoes, avalanches and all other kinds of me cause deadly results. Every year, thousands of people die because of me. Especially When I appear as an earthquake the loss of life and property is very high.If you go on your unconscious and neglectful behaviour ,I will damage your world and you much more in the future.If you want to avoid my harm and damage ;

You must preserve nature and natural heritage. You must stop deforestation and plant more trees. You should check whether the buildings are earthquake resistant or not. Your earthquake kit must be prepared for an earthquake. You should educate people on how to behave during natural disasters. However; If you keep on your neglectful manner and act,I will take part in your life more often ever and It would be more fascinating for me but more terrifying for you!The choice is yours!

Drought, Land Degradation & Ecosystem, Agriculture Agrupamento de Escolas da Mealhada, Mealhada, Portugal Teachers: Lucia Maria Silva Ferreira - Rui Pedro Pacheco The story was written collectively by classes L4A Illustrated by: Martim, Bernardo, Laura, Marta, and Benedita Short Story Part 1 LRuuciiaFPeMerdrreaiorrPiaa-aSchielvcao

On a beautiful sunny day, with 42 degrees, Tomas and Cleo were bored, at home. Not knowing what to do, they decided to go for a walk and enjoy the fresh air and the shadow provided by the trees.

The two friends entered the woods, but, along the way, they saw a great variety of plants of all sizes. However, some of them were withered… They also saw squirrels climbing up the tress, a fox, a wild boar and, horror… three dead birds in the middle of the path. Suddenly, Tomas and Cleo notice that the fountain, whose source runs crystal clear throughout the year, was dry and full of garbage: tuna cans, bottles of wine and beer, chips and biscuits bags, among other things…

They wondered could what had happened. Could it be because it didn't rain for quite a long time, or was it something clogging the water way? What about all that garbage? Who could have done such a thing?

Drought, Land Degradation & Ecosystem, Agriculture Mustafa Kemal Secondary School, Merkez, Düzce, Turkey Teacher: Yasemin Sivrikaya Mustafa Kemal Secondary School 7th Grades Written and illustrated by Tuğrul, Elif N, Sevval, Ayse M , Şamil Short Story Part 2 Yasemin Sivrikaya

They immediately started to investigate and saw two men, the men were two managers of a factory. The guys were dumping all the garbage in the factory here. They decided to call the police, but realized that this was not true. They thought they could escape if they heard the sirens. They began to pursue the men. The men entered a building. They were burning things that would make you realize that they were dumping garbage in the lake. But the children knew that when they burned them, they would release toxic gases. The men put on gas masks and locked the door because they were afraid the smell would get out. that's when the children called the police. The men were captured and the lake was no longer polluted.

It was time to find out why the birds found dead in the middle of the road died. Tomas and Cleo were even more happy with the happiness of solving a case and set off with great enthusiasm. When they came to the area where the birds were, they realized that there were new deep footprints on the ground, and then they realized that these footprints were new, people had passed here, but the birds were still on the ground, if they were good people, they would definitely have picked up the birds from the ground. These people could have been killers of birds. So Tomas and Cleo began to follow in their footsteps. They knew how to track because they had gone to scouting school and met there. While they were tracking, they went inside the hut after one hut, and one more shock… Inside the hut, the animals that were starving and could not even bark anymore were inside the cage. Next to them were some dead birds. Two men were chatting with each other with guns in their hands. Then Tomas came up with a plan and he and Cleo decided to implement it. The plan was this: First, Cleo would go to the hunters and distract them, while Tomas would hide the guns and open the cages before they saw it, and the dogs would attack the hunters, and that's exactly what happened. The plan had worked.

As if the dogs wanted to show that they were happy, they barked very loudly and disappeared into the forest. Tomas had also opened the cages for the birds, and they had flown away. Again, Tomas and Cleo were very happy. Once again, they understood that humans were the only creatures that harmed the Earth, ecosystem and living things. Don't people show any empathy? Have they ever thought about how they would feel when they put themselves in the shoes of those animals? Since that day, Tomas and Cleo have been much more sensitive and conscious of the environment. After these events, Tomas and Cleo warned the people around them about this issue, namely environmental cleaning, and gave information. Their families once again congratulated them for their work and said that they were proud of it. If people do not have information about the environment and the right education is not given, the result of this work will not be good. The fate of plants, animals and all other living things is in the hands of people, but people act without thinking. We need to put a stop to this as soon as possible. Please be like Tomas and Cleo. There is no going back…

Overconsumption, Sustainable Consumption & Urbanization - Migration Mati Logoreci, Shkoder, Albania Teacher: Mimoza Nduka Klevisa and Aleksandra ,Nelsoni wrote the part of story Illustrators are Romina and Elvis ,Fabiana Short Story Part 1 Mimoza Nduka

I am Miroslava, a little Ukrainian girl. I live in Kiev and I am 12 years old. I had many dreams for the future, like all the children at my age. I have a younger brother called Dimitri, a cat named Dario and a garden full of flowers. Now thay are not anymore... Everything is burned ... I was used to waking up in the morning from the loving voice of my mother and the good smell of baked bread but now the city is destroyed, houses have been turned into ruins and planes like black birds fly over our heads. I have to run with my mom and grandma in the basement of the house as soon as we hear the sirens announcing the bombings. I cannot play with my friends because I do not meet them anymore, everyone runs, leaves and hides. I am very afraid I do not want to die. I have not met my father for six days; he is fighting for the freedom of Ukraine.

He is our hero. I hugged him strongly when he came to say goodbye and I told him that I also wanted to fight but he told me that I was the one who would protect the family in his absence. I drove to the border I did not dare to turn my head back because I did not want to see me crying. You are a strong girl - said dad, I have a lot of faith in you. We will meet in liberated Kiev, in free Ukraine. I was very upset, how can we leave the rest of the family there between bombs and missiles? Kilometers of cars had filled the streets and everyone was leaving.

Overconsumption, Sustainable Consumption & Urbanization - Migration Mustafa Kemal Secondary School, Düzce, Merkez, Turkey Teacher : Öznur Günesen Written and illustrated by Ravza,Beren,Selime,Kübra from Turkish Team. Short Story Part 2 Öznur Güneşen

One day, one of my neighbors said that all of this is because of overconsumption. I asked my mom. ‘What is the overconsumption?’She said. ‘If a person used everything without thinking it might be disappeared. For example now we should be careful about our needs because it is too difficult to find it for everybody.’ She should be right because there is no reason for war. They must be lost everything. I promise I share my toys with them. My dad turns back. We turn back our home.

Today we have to leave our city. It is difficult to find way to go forward. We don’t use the ways between buildings because of bombs. There are lots of cars but fewer trees. I read a story when I was at school. There are children hiding among trees like us. Forest saves them every evil thing. We reached a safer place for us. I hope we will see my dad. This unnecessary war will finish soon.
