Characters in Motion Sanaa Al-Hassani - 510471

A freehand sketch inspired by Eadweard Muybridge’s photography, capturing movements of the human body frame by frame. This section of the task encouraged me to carefully consider scale of the person and proportions of different body parts.

Although I generally prefer drawing free-hand onto paper, I really enjoyed working in Photoshop to digitally draw the frame by frame figures. This is because I found it very useful, for example, when I would draw the head too small because I could scale it up without having to erase it and re-drawing it.

I decided to take a snippet from the trailer of the game GTA V, where one of the main characters – Michael –is picking up a leaf off of the floor and throwing it to the side. Personally, I thought that this was a good movement to capture due to the fact that his movements are quite broad. In the following slide is my free-hand drawing based on the screenshots I have made.
