Cardiovascular SystemVocabulary- 1. Aorta- largest artery in the body. 2. Artery- blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart. 3. Endocardium- inner lining of the heart 4. Pericardium- layer surrounding the heart 5. Pulmonary artery- artery carrying oxygen-poor blood away from the heart 6. Pulse- beat of the heart as felt through the walls of the arteries 7. Interventricular Septum- the partition/wall separating the left and right ventricle 8. Valve- structure in the veins or heart that temporarily closes an opening so that blood flows in only one direction 9. Vein- blood vessel that carries blood to the heart10. Respiratory SystemVocabulary- 1. Nares- opening through the nose carrying air into the nasal cavities 2. Larynx- voice box, contains the vocal cords 3. Alveolus- air sac in the lung 4. Respiration- process of moving air in and out of the lungs (breathing) 5. Pharynx- Throat; including the nasopharynx, oropharynx, and laryngopharynx. 6. Epiglottis- Lid-like piece of cartilage that covers the larynx, preventing food from entering the larynx and trachea during swallowing. 7. Bronchioles- Smallest branches of the bronchi. 8. Pleura- Double-layered membrane surrounding each lung. 9. Diaphragm- Muscle separating the chest and abdomen.10. Terminal bronchioles- Lead to alveolar ducts. Table of contents

Respiratory SystemDisease/Disorder- ● Acute bronchitis- inflammation of the bronchiole tubes ● Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)- a group of lung diseases that block airflow and make it difficult to breathe ● Asthma- a condition in which a person’s airways become inflamed, narrow and swell, and produce extra mucus ● Pneumonia- infection that inflames air sacs in one or both lungs, which may fill with fluid Table of contents

Respiratory SystemCareer Opportunities- ● Pulmonologist- a physician who possesses specialized knowledge and skill in the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary conditions and diseases. ● Respiratory Therapist- clinicians trained in advanced airway management; establishing and maintaining the airway during management of trauma, intensive care, and may administer anaesthesia for surgery or conscious sedation. Reproductive SystemVocabulary- 1. Cervix- opening to the uterus 2. circumcision- surgical removal of the foreskin of the penis 3. Breast- either of two soft fleshy milk-secreting glandular organs on the chest of a woman. 4. Areola- small circular area such as that around the human nipple. 5. Gametes- reproductive cells, have only half the number of chromosomes as body cells. 6. Gonads- reproductive glands 7. Sperm- male reproductive cell 8. Ova- (egg) gamete produced by female 9. urethra- duct through which urine is discharged in most mammals and which serves as the male genital duct.10. Ovaries- The female gonads, paired almond-sized organs located in the pelvic cavity, and produce two steroid hormone groups the estrogens and progesterone. Reproductive SystemOccupations- ● Andrologist- A physician, often a urologist, who treats the male reproductive system and male urogenital complaints, including male infertility. ● Gynecologist- A physician who specializes in treating diseases of the female reproductive organs and providing well-woman health care that focuses primarily on the reproductive organs. I believe I deserve the 10 points on this project. I think this because I turned all my work in on time, I completed all the class work, and I exceeded the minimum requirements for this project. I did this project to the best of my abilities, and I believe I deserve the 10 points on this project.
