Hospitality Industry Review… Hospitality companies which cater to business professionals as their customers often pay special attention their service and dining atmosphere. A business is only as good as the service that it provides. Darden is a company made up of largely known restaurant chains, and they provide a customer experience like non other. It is really not by chance that an individual looking to grab a bite and have a business meeting, or just having a family gathering would be a proper thing to do at any of the Darden establishments. Restaurants like Longhorn Steakhouse and the Olive Garden are pretty much favorites for many, across the board. Service is excellent, food is spectacular, and the pricing is fair. In every way the customer gets what he or she is paying for. Clarence Otis Jr. Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer Clarence Otis Jr. has served as Chief Executive Officer of Darden Restaurants since November 2004 and Chairman of Darden’s Board of Directors since November 2005. Darden is the world's largest full-service restaurant operating company with annual sales of more than $8.5 billion. The company owns and operates more than 2,100 Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, The Capital Grille, Eddie V’s and Yard House restaurants in North America, employs more than 200,000 people and serves more than 425 million meals annually. In 2013, Darden was named to the FORTUNE “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for the third year in a row. Clarence, 57, started at Darden in 1995, joining the company as Vice President and Treasurer and progressing to the position of Chief Financial Officer several years later. Prior to joining Darden, Clarence served as Managing Director and Manager of Public Finance for Chemical Securities, Inc. (now JP Morgan Securities, Inc.), capping an eleven year career in investment banking. A member of the New York Bar Association, Clarence earned a Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School and worked as a securities attorney in New York City for four years prior to beginning his career in financial services. He earned a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., where he was elected a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He currently serves as a member of the school’s Board of Trustees. Clarence also serves on the board of directors of VF Corporation, Verizon Communications, Inc. and the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. In 2012, Clarence received the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association's (IFMA) Silver Plate Award which recognizes outstanding achievement and innovation in the foodservice industry. And, in 2007, he was presented with a Horatio Alger Award and inducted as a lifetime member of the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans.
It isn’t really the menu selection that drives loyalists in droves to a Darden favorite, Red Lobster. The whole image behind each restaurant brand speaks quality, and if need be pricy. With two progressive leaders on the executive team the company continues to grow and meet new expectations from customers. Both executives have impressive and extensive backgrounds which led them on their paths to eventually position themselves into leadership roles within Darden. Will Setliff was named Chief Marketing Officer for Darden Restaurants in January 2013. A member of Darden’s Operating Team, Will is responsible for strengthening overall marketing, culinary and insights excellence and ensuring a strong foundation at each brand, elevating innovation to drive long-term growth, and directing Darden’s marketing talent strategy. Exclusive Interview… Some people may have seen a familiar face unveiling her new swimsuit line this past summer, as she presented an array of lively colors and designs. Elease Donovan had a chance to chat with the Digital Conglomerate Magazine www.eleasedonovanswimwear.com about her business goals and ventures. From her season 8 appearances on the Oxygen Channel’s reality show Bad Girls Club Ms. Donovan is known for being one that takes the lead rather than follows. “I don’t keep in contact with the girls from the show, because they just aren’t on my level.” These are pretty strong words, but she is backing them up. Ms. Donovan has a clear eye for fashion and she is working the industry in unique ways. She really isn’t promoting her line in the traditional manner of displaying her designs on the fashion show circuits around the globe. She is pushing her designs to the public through creative marketing methods. It is just the competitive nature of Ms. Donovan’s branding style that is going to stand out.
Although Ms. Donovan’s swim wear line was the main topic and focus of the press panel she did manage to get some plugs in about her up coming tee shirt line. “When I come up with a design idea I am ecstatic and I get very productive.” Ms. Donovan seemed extremely excited to let us all know that she is dedicated to crafting quality design work. This talented business woman gave us some hints of her multi talented ambition, and is very open to opportunities doing acting, modeling work, or working as a Vj. She grew up immortalizing Kimora Lee Simmons as her idol and role model to follow. Staying ahead of the competition is the name of the game in the fashion industry. Ms. Donovan stays steps ahead by, “Getting down ideas and experimenting with fabrics. Everyday there is something new to discover, everyday there is something different to work with.” She has the do it now attitude and is motivated by staying focused on the ideas or tasks at hand. Like many who stay focused on reaching their goals Ms. Donovan has ambitions to be sitting on an empire within the next 10 years. Working hard and producing ity will probably get her qual there. Exclusive Interview By Garland L. McLaughlin Artist Tiffany Foxx has a great career ahead of her as a rap artist who has gained insight on the game and on how she delivers her entertaining rhymes. As the protégé of the well known artist Little Kim; Tiffany Foxx just stands out among other up and coming stars. I like Ms. Foxx’s style, she admits that the lane which she is creating for herself really doesn’t involve having any competition. Ms. Foxx states, “I keep it real and talk about the issues the industry doesn’t like to see females talking about. I stick up for myself in this male dominated industry.” Her attitude is simple, and down to earth. The conversation gave me more insight to an artists struggle and perseverance, this made room for some really cool responses during our Q and A session. In such a short period from linking up with Little Kim 5 years ago Ms. Foxx has been able to put in motion a series of tracks, collaborations, and a whole movement. “I’ve been working on a number of things the Yellow Tape, Gold Diggers Mix Tape, Gold Diggers Mix Tape II, performing on the Gold Diggers Tour, and pushing the Gold Diggers Movement: Gold On Another Level.” Pg. 28

She also has been influenced in such a way that she can always design a style that looks different and trendy.
