In Kabul, Afghanistan, there lived a 14 year old boy named Sayed. He lives with his family of 4. Because the little money earned by their parents is hardly enough to feed the hungry mouths in the family, Sayed washes cars and sometimes even begin to beg for money. Sayed would walk 5 miles everyday to go to school. Because of this, he is suffering from malnutrition. Even though he was suffering from this he continued to strive in order for his family and him to move out of the country for a better future.
Sayed has a sister named Zahra and they would always talk about the future. They share a special bond and they are always there for each other. Instead of working Zahra would stay at home and do house chores instead of going to school unlike Sayed. Sayed was in his darkest point of his life. It was another day for Sayed he was washing cars and signed up for a construction job he worked there for 3 years, and there he met Farah, A girl he admired
It was a Friday weekend and Sayed just came back from work, he went inside the room and saw the family sobbing. \"Why are you guys crying\" Sayed said while quivering. \"Zahra slowly points at the television while wiping her tears* Sayed then hugs the family* Looking at the news the family knew what was going to happen to the country. Taliban militants were able to reclaim control of the whole country within 11 days - finally entering the capital, Kabul, on 15 August.
President Biden deployed nearly 6,000 troops to seize control of the airport to co- ordinate the evacuation of US and allied foreign nationals and local Afghans. Thousands of people converged on Kabul international airport in the hope of being able to board one of the evacuation flights. Sayed's family and Farah were one of the evacuees, they fled to Germany. Its been 2 months since they have been trying to find a job. Sayed was walking down the street looking for a job he found in the internet, he saw a businessman with a nice car. Sayed asked the man what he does for a living, and the man tells him he is a stock broker.
After Sayed comments that the job needs high education, The man responds by saying it isn't required because one has to only rely on its social skills. After the interaction, Sayed narrates that the people around him are so happy asking why he couldn't be like that. The morning after, Sayed tells Farah that he is going home at 6 because he will apply to be a stock broker. Farah think its ridiculous and Sayed doesn't appreciate that. She then proceeds to tell him that we still need to pay 2 months of rent. In the morning, Sayed goes to a brokerage firm to apply for a job
Since they have little money, he went in the interview with a dirty shirt which was the cause of the brokerage company not calling him back. Despite how intelligent and good at problem solving Sayed is, he gets judged because of his back-round. Sayed sees the business man again walking, Sayed then takes this opportunity to talk to him. The business man was focusing on what he was going to do at work while Sayed was talking about his skills and personality. However he leaves Sayed behind. Sayed goes home and he receives a call from the business man telling him to write his secretary's
Number so they can talk tomorrow, because there is no pen or paper near by Sayed has to memorize the number and go to near by store to write it down on paper. That night the landlord asks Sayed for the money, but Sayed pleads with him to let him stay for awhile to pay him. The landlord agrees to let him stay for 10 days more. In addition, Sayed will paint the rooms himself. The following day Sayed goes to the interview that the business man told him. Sayed arrives at the interview, as the interview progressed the head seems to be unimpressed with Sayed. However in the end, Sayed made them laugh and he was hired to be an internship without pay
At night in the house, Farah tells Sayed that she's heading to Berlin to work as a waitress. The following day, Sayed moves 3 blocks down nearby to a motel with the help of his friend. Sayed then goes to a pawn shop to sell his jewelry, thereby securing him a little bit of money to get by. Afterwards, it is known that Sayed is ordered around all the time to buy this and that. It is also known that Sayed is having no success at the work he is tasked to do. As he is running out of the building, his internship boss unluckily asked him to park his car somewhere. While things seem to be going great,
All of this changes when on a particular day his employer deducts money from his bank account for his unpaid taxes. Because of this he is now broke. To have a bit of money Sayed asks his friend for the money he owes him. However, his friend thought that is was already paid when he drove Sayed to the motel. Sayed becomes frustrated with this prompting his friend to close the door on him. Sayed then sees his old watch that could be worth a few amount of money. He went from place to place to sell the device the only find out its broken. While the pawn shop will still pay for it when it gets fixed. Sayed feels distressed
That night, Sayed goes home to the motel to find his things outside his room. Sayed attempts to open the door but the lock has changed, with no other option Sayed has to move again despite being tired. He ends up in a bathroom in the train station where Sayed stays for the night. Sayed quietly cries at this low light of his life. In the next scene, Sayed goes to a homeless shelter but gets rejected because only women and children are allowed. Sayed then heads to another homeless shelter where they almost get cut off because the rooms we're already full.
Inside the home shelter Sayed attempts to fix the broken watch. Sayed then narrates that he learned how to finish his conversations with clients because he has to get early in line to the homeless shelter. Sayed then studies for tomorrow's internship exam. The following day, Sayed manages to finish his exam quickly. While going out, his internship boss who just got out of a taxi asks Sayed to lend him some money despite only having a limited amount Sayed still lends him money. To earn money Sayed donates blood he then uses the money to buy a part of the watch he is fixing. Sayed then successfully fixes the watch earning him just enough money to sleep in a hotel.
Sayed then goes to the beach to get away from the city's cruel atmosphere. The following day the business man congratulates Sayed on securing many clients. Afterwards, Sayed gets called by his internship boss. He leads Sayed to the CEO who noticed he was wearing a new shirt. Sayed tells him because he was on his last day as an intern and the CEO wishes he would still wear it tomorrow informing him that he got the full time job. Chris struggling to hold back tears then goes outside of the building narrating that this is the turning point of his life. Chris managed to establish his investment firm. He walks somewhere and it also shows his multi-million dollar house and also became a philanthropist.
The story shows how a person can be from the darkest point of his life and becoming a successful person he dreamt of. It also portrays how some people are lucky to be born rich or lucky because Sayed was born in Afghanistan in a poor family and he had to work to get on top. Yet, people still don't work when the success is in-front of them
