Why NYP is the right choice Through our brand of holistic development, you will find learning opportunities that go beyond textbooks. Go on exploratory trips, tinker with ideas and come up with prototypes. Find innovative solutions to problems that people face day after day. Join one of more than 80 CCAs, or take part in a creative arts workshop at our Student Life Academy — we believe that these experiences will help you build your network and grow into your potential. We’ll get you to do electives in areas that is not in your chosen specialisation — so that you can see how other fields and industries are developing. Take a foreign language, or find time to create your own pet projects at our large MakerSpace@NYP. Collaborate with students from other disciplines and challenge your own ideas of what you can achieve. Together with our network of industry partners, we will work to nurture your development, expand your horizons and fuel your passions.

NYP’s Professional Competency Model is the game-changer NYP has fundamentally transformed teaching and learning with the Professional Competency Model (PCM). Put simply, it moves away from learning subjects like Maths in a silo. Instead you will learn specific skills, and how they all work together, in work task. So instead of learning the A to Z of physics, you will learn the specific bits of maths, the exact engineering know-how to draw and analyse data from smart sensors, and then add the skills of public speaking — so that you can present your findings and make your work count. A key feature of the PCM: It is co-built, and in some cases co-taught, by industry majors and leading companies. This means that you will get additional industry certifications while you get your diploma! Because these companies are at the forefront of their expertise areas, your course will continue to remain relevant and desirable. So far, Microsoft, Oracle Academy and Nvidia — among others — are involved in co-creating NYP-PCM courses with us. The SDM experience Dream job at Tokyo VFX studio becomes reality for Singapore fanboy BENJAMIN AW DIPLOMA IN DIGITAL VISUAL EFFECTS (NOW KNOWN AS ANIMATION & VISUAL EFFECTS) Ben was absolutely thrilled when he heard of the internship opportunity at the storied Polygon Pictures — famed for its work on blockbusters like Godzilla, Pacific Rim and Star Wars — The Clone Wars. He was so excited he completed his showreel in a breakneck four weeks. His efforts paid off. He became one of the first few Singaporeans to intern at the studio in Minato City, Tokyo, and the first to do so at its prestigious Shot Department – which is in charge of planning key scenes in the movie. During the six months, Ben was given the opportunity to work on VFX for new feature films. His excellent standard of work, strong work ethic and attitude earned him an A for his internship, and better — a job offer at the company. Ben is today living his dream and is an inspiration to his juniors. L41

From science to spatial design EVELYN ENG DIPLOMA IN SPATIAL DESIGN (NOW KNOWN AS EXPERIENTIAL PRODUCT & INTERIOR DESIGN) The Science stream student didn’t think she’d consider design as a career option but everything changed after a sharing session by an NYP lecturer on the Diploma in Spatial Design. Evelyn was intrigued by how design could physically and emotionally reach people, and she loved how the diploma brought together spatial quality, environmental considerations and architecture elements. The graduate with a perfect 4.0 GPA attributes her success to the support from her lecturers and classmates“who were there for one another through thick and thin”. Evelyn was awarded an NYP Scholarship and made it to the Director’s List for all six semesters. She also represented NYP in the Polytechnic-ITE Tennis Tournament from 2017 to 2019, and won an individual Bronze medal (2017) and two team event Gold medals (2018 and 2019). Her performance during her internship at a local architecture firm was so impressive that she was offered to keep the job till it was time for her to enter university.
