Active Compounds Contained in Agaricus blazeiAlpha and beta glucans are polysaccharides present inAgaricusblazei that are most responsible for modulating the immunesystem. These polysaccharides are made of repeating units ofD-glucose molecules attached to one another by glycosidicbonds. These polysaccharides come in a large variety ofshapes (due to the multiple locations available for glycosidicbonding between D-glucose units) and molecular weights (dueto the varying lengths possible for D-glucose polysaccharidechains).
