Our Mission: To help people with disabilities or other disad- vantages achieve and maintain employment to gain a better quality of life. Goodwill provides jobs, training, and counseling for welfare recipi- ents, people with disabilities, low wage workers, and other job seek- ers. Goodwill collects and resells donated items to fund our training and counseling programs. A sister corporation Mississippi Goodworks provides training and em- ployment through federal contracts Services Provided: Employment, employee development for persons with disabilities, job training, employment counseling, ancil- lary training, vouchers for Women’s Shelters, and referrals for services provided elsewhere in the community, court ordered community Service, volunteerism, senior programs, and employee development services for those that are disabled. Accreditation: Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi has received the highest possible accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities
Mississippi Goodworks, Inc. is looking for applicants that meet our mission and Federal contract requirements. Mississippi Goodworks has six Federal Ability One Contracts. These contracts hire persons that meet a specific contract criterion and 75% of the employees must be non-competitively employable due to disabling Condition. A person with a disability is defined as someone who has a se- vere physical or mental impairment ( a residual, limiting condition resulting from an injury, disease, or congenital defect) which so limits the person’s functional capabilities ( mobility, communication, self care, self –direction, work tolerance or work skills ) that the individual is unable to engage in normal competitive employ- ment over an extended period of time. Mississippi Goodworks employs approximately 290 people, most of whom have barriers to employment and/or a disability that creates a significant barrier to employment. Work sites / job locations include: Retail stores in 13 locations and three donation centers Custodial services provided at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi. Custodial Contract at the Judge Dan B. Russell Jr, Federal Courthouse, and the William B. Colmer Federal Courthouse, Hattiesburg. Postal Services Centers at Keesler Air Force Base Commissary (grocery store) shelf stocking and custodial jobs at Keesler Air Force Base and the Navy Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport. Leroy Modenbach Training Center provides free literacy clas- ses for adults also free job search, resume writing, and inter- view training classes for Adults.
