Riverstone Public School incorporates a Preschool, Kindergarten to Year 6, as well as a Special Education Unit. It also provides opportunities for Gifted and Talented students within the classroom and through extra-curricular activities in sport, choir, dance and technology. LOCAL SCHOOLS RIVERSTONE HIGH SCHOOL McCULLOCH STREET, RIVERSTONE (02) 9627 1484 Riverstone High School is a comprehensive, co-educational, middle high school for Years 7 to 12. It has a Support Unit catering for students with mild and moderate intellectual disability. The school has a strong focus on literacy, technology and talented students. The full range of students' abilities are catered for with a wide variety of programs including extension and remediation programs. Our Mission is to provide a positive and stimulating environment which values and fosters: the involvement of parents and care-givers in students' education; teaching and learning that is enjoyable, challenging, rewarding and lifelong; mutual respect, responsibility and individuality; striving by staff and students to achieve potential; self esteem and self confidence through participation in academic, cultural, sporting, and social pursuits; and an appreciation of our physical environment. LOCAL SCHOOLS SCHOFIELDS PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL ST ALBANS ROAD, SCHOFIELDS (02) 962 1534 Schofield's Public School has served the Schofield's community since 1919 when the school was first established in a small community hall. The school was moved to its present site on the corner of St. Albans Road and Junction Road in 1923. The original school building is still in use today and its two small classrooms are an abiding reminder of the heritage of this school in the community. It is interesting to note that one of the school's first students, Miss Violet Alderton, who was enrolled in the first Kindergarten class of 1919, lived in the local area until her passing. One of the school's major awards has been named in her honour. The last line of the Schofields School Song says, \"It's a very nice place to be.\" Those simple words, written by a student at the school many years ago, probably expresses best what we at Schofields feel about our school. So many visitors and new families who come to our school express the view that Schofields has a very warm, happy atmosphere and a nice feeling about it. 6 6

There are currently 9 Multicategorical classes that specialise in ‘Nurturing Potential’ of students with disability including Autism, intellectual and physical disabilities. South Creek School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school that brings together the whole school community to contribute to developing a positive, safe and supportive learning culture. South Creek School endeavours to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children with disability. South Creek School provides evidence-based learning programs that are innovative and have a strong focus on individualised learning and sensory needs. The staff at South Creek School are highly qualified and/or experienced in special education and attend extensive and regular professional development to continuously upgrade their skills in providing excellence in special education. They are dedicated to creating a supportive and innovative learning environment for your child and every class has a dedicated special education teacher and highly trained School Learning Support Officer.
