Introduction As part of the B.Ed curriculum , we were assigned to create a digital album on an author. The author I chose for the album is Rabindranath Tagore . His work Taj Mahal is prescribed in the SCERT textbook for class VIII. Rabindranath Tagore was a man of prodigious literary and artistic accomplishments and played a leading role in the Indian cultural and national movements.

Education Oriental Seminary School He did not like the conventional education and started studying at home under several teachers. He was mostly trained by his siblings both in literary as well as physical activities like gymnastics and martial arts.

Law Schooling University College London He did not finish his studies here. He rather took up independent studies of Shakespeare.

Achievements of Rabindranath Tagore ❖ Won Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 and Tagore was the first Indian to won Nobel Prize. ❖ British crowned Rabindranath Tagore with Knight Title in 1915, but after the incident at Jallianwala Bagh, Rabindranath Tagore refused to keep Knight Title further at 1919 to protest the terror. ❖ In 1930 the Paintings of Rabindranath Tagore was exhibited in Paris and London. ❖ Tagore was conferred with Doctorate of Literature by Oxford University in a special ceremony held in Santiniketan in 1940. ❖ Indian Postage Department showed their tribute to Rabindranath Thakur on 7th May 1961 when a Stamp released in the name of Rabindranath Tagore.

Interesting fact about Tagore • First Non-European to Win a Nobel Literature Prize Rabindranath Tagore wasn’t just the first Asian to win a Nobel prize, but also the first Non- European to mark his prominence in literature.

Conclusion Through this digital album I have tried to document the life of Rabindranath Tagore , his contributions to the literary world and how he stands apart from all other writers. I hope this album will be helpful for High School students.
