DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION The Department of Radiology has hosted several recent educational seminars and dialogue sessions regarding diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). In October of 2020, the Department of Radiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital collaborated with the Department of Radiology at Mass General Hospital to co-host a Radiology Diversity & Equity Inclusion Week. Speakers from all over the nation were invited to discuss a variety of topics including microaggressions in medicine, how to better serve gender diverse patients, and a review of the Association of Program Directors in Radiology DEI curriculum. If you missed a lecture you can view it here. Collaborated with the BWH LGBTQ & Friends Employee Resource Group to offer our staff rainbow stickers for employees to place on their badge to signify support and safety for LGBTQ patients and colleagues. QUALITY & “Addressing Radiology Recommendations Collaboratively” SAFETY (ARRC) was successfully deployed to help reduce missed and delayed diagnosis in the ambulatory, inpatient, and emergency ADDRESSING departments. RADIOLOGY ARRC ensures that radiology studies with findings requiring RECOMMENDATIONS follow-up imaging have: COLLABORATIVELY (ARRC) A collaborative care plan Clinically necessary follow- established between the up imaging is ordered, radiologist and ordering scheduled, and tracked to provider. completion. We anticipate this new initiative will track approximately 7,000 non-critical follow-up recommendations annually. ACHIEVING THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF PARTNERS 2.0 The Medical Imaging Informatics (MI2) team continues to work diligently to integrate IT systems across the enterprise. MI2 consists of MGH and BWH IT staff working closely with IT staff across all MGB sites - 80+ individuals across the enterprise, on planning, implementation, and platform support. The new “OneView” Imaging platform improves patient care delivery and quality of care across MGB. It provides a simplified and scalable system that supports the distribution of Best Practices, a platform for innovation, better patient outcomes, greater efficiency, stability, and security. Historically, each site had a different PACS system, and standardization of the Imaging Platform is nearly complete. In addition to OneView enterprise implementations, the MI2 team has had many accomplishments in FY’20 with over 18+ enterprise and site-specific projects. Our thanks for their diligence and dedication. 10 radnews • ISSUE 4
