DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION The Department of Radiology is committed to diversity, equity & inclusion. We must act to ensure we are all respectful, supportive and inclusive with our colleagues and patients at work. Our goal is to take actionable steps to confront the deep-rooted injustices that surround us through hard work, difficult conversations, education, and advocacy. Dr. Neena Kapoor has been selected to lead these efforts within the Department. As the first initiative, H. Timothy Ewing, PhD, Vice President of Employee Diversity, Inclusion & Experience at Brigham Health joined the Department of Radiology faculty meeting for a roundtable discussion on race and equity. Dr. Ewing led a thought-provoking discussion on systemic racism. This initial faculty meeting reaffirmed our Department’s long- term commitment to improving our work environment for inclusivity. We need to be active and engaged in order to develop meaningful and sustainable solutions and we are looking forward to working with you all to make these goals a reality. Neena Kapoor, MD Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion DIAGNOSTIC The Radiologist Diagnostic Certainty Scale is a guide that conveys to patients CERTAINTY and providers a radiologist’s subjective diagnostic confidence. Our goal is to SCALE improve the clarity of radiologist’s contribution in devising the optimal care plan for each patient by creating an actionable report. In order to achieve this goal, it is important to clearly communicate the degree of diagnostic certainty in radiology reports. Our recently published data showed that adoption of the Certainty Scale was associated with increased use of recommended certainty terms.
