ANNUAL SPORTS DAY A healthy nation is always a wealthy nation. Therefore, it is necessary to emphasise on sports. One can think of a healthy mind only when it resides in a healthy body. Both physical and mental well-being are the prerequisites for achieving greatness in life. Sports day brings new energy in the hearts and minds of the children. This day is marked with great joy and discovering the inner talent of a child in the field of sports .A sound mind resides in a sound body. Sports and games help in muscles coordination resulting in physical fitness apart from inculcating sportsmanship, leadership, unity and competitive spirit among the students. As we give emphasis on academics we give similar emphasis on sports. With this in mind, we had our annual sports day where no child was left behind. We had various cultural programs on the opening and closing day.TAGORE house was the overall sports champion of the year 2019-2020
CLICKS OF SPORTS DAY
CHILDREN’S DAY-POOL BASH Our school pool is a great place to lounge in and enjoy. Water play activities in young children strengthens motor skills, builds balance and the ability to propel and navigate. Coordination is also sharpened. So GDGPSP organized a pool bash for its students on November 14, 2019. The children turned up in colorful swim suits and whilst most had great fun playing in the water, they also spent time playing various other activities outside the pool area. This serves as the perfect time for them to bond with their friends and facilitators, shed all inhibitions and just be happy and excited. Children enjoyed the cool pool under the guidance of their teachers. They enjoyed the music and had a mind blowing time at the snack booth that was especially created for them. The children thoroughly enjoyed the splash pool activity, jumping in the water, splashing water at their friends. The kids were still beaming and in no hurry to beat a retreat even after the event got over!
MOCK PARLIAMENT The event was organized to check the debating skills of students as well as their knowledge of the current issues facing the country. The event was restricted for students from grade 6 to 8 as the school assumed they will be mature enough to know how parliament functions. Unfortunately for the school, the students were a bit too aware of Parliament’s proceedings. “Extracurricular activities are very important in the overall development of a child so we decided to conduct a debate for them. Then we thought that if we are going to conduct a debate, might as well make it a Parliamentary debate. After all, some of these students can grow up to be future leaders of this country. We also thought that the students will become politically more aware while watching proceedings from the parliament while preparing, that would have helped them become better citizens going forward”.

INNOVATIONS The classroom is the original cultivator of true learning and the green house that nurtures talent and creativity. The dynamics between a teacher and students define the essence of a classroom. A great teacher can transform the brick and motor confinement and take students on a journey of pure learning, responding to their doubts and instilling an environment of curiosity and interactivity. Hence to optimize the learning methods, installing the latest educational technology and encouraging teachers to be more creative than ever.
ASSEMBLIES Assemblies are an important feature of a school’s routine. They also form a significant part of the school’s curriculum. They are a means to create a positive, reflective ethos and promote value- based education. They powerfully nurture the development of intrapersonal intelligence. All students assemble at the beginning of the school day in one place, usually in the school hall where prayers are held, news is read aloud, and instructions are given. Sometimes, students are required to deliver a speech or the Principal makes some announcement, if necessary. It provides us with a good opportunity to get together. It is a symbol of unity of our school. It helps us to cultivate a sense of belonging towards our school. Morning assembly is very important to remove the stage fear from the children’s minds. The assembly is divided into three categories junior, middle and senior wing. The junior wing has classes Nursery to K.G. each child is given an opportunity to speak. Through in Kindergarten the kids are small yet we teach them how to be confident even at their tender age. With this ideology we have the assembly of our junior and senior school.
HOUSE BOARD DECORATIONS Bulletin boards are an important component of classrooms. They provide a platform to introduce new material or showcase student work. Educators should create boards that are equally engaging and educational. The use of interactive boards in the classroom ensures that students recognize the importance of the posted materials. An eye-catching bulletin board will build interest in every student. Educators should strive to create bulletin boards that introduce new concepts in an exciting way. Bulletin boards appeal to the visual side of learning for students. To build interest, educators should decorate the boards before a new concept is discussed with the class. Students' curiosity will begin to build and they will be more likely to pay attention to the lesson. Every Wednesday House board decoration is conducted. Students of different house Radhakrishna, Vivekananda, Teresa and Tagore decorated their houses with different write-ups and images based on the theme, “Winners never quit and Quitters never win” and the value of the month “Creativity”.
STAR STUDENT It has been rightly said that, “Motivation is what gets you started; Habit is what keeps you going.” Students, when they are motivated, are more excited to learn and participate. One way to motivate students is to give them rewards and recognition for their learning and participation. With this belief, we have initiated Star of the Month and which culminates to Student of the month. The student who is the star of the week is also the Class representative of that week.
