NEW YEAR’S SPECIAL ASSEMBLY BY TEACHERS Every new year brings new hopes and new goals for the life. So the teachers of GDGPSP conducted a special assembly in order to welcome their children after long and rejuvenating winter break. The Assembly started with a prayer song, theme song, and followed by pledge, news and ended with a skit and a dance. The assembly was teeming with a wave of enthusiasm. The students had come back fresh, reenergized, well rested and full of excited stories of their vacations. Principal ma’am motivated the students for a happy, prosperous and successful year ahead. She also urged the students to concentrate in their studies and prepare well for the forth coming exams. Special emphasis was laid on making the resolution of the year. She also motivated the students to maintain the environment of speaking in English inside the school campus.

LOHRI AND MAKAR SAKRANTI CELEBRATION Lohri was celebrated at GDGPSP with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. The mood on the campus was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. A special assembly was conducted in which the students of grade 1 to 8 participated. To add fun, the teachers also performed gidha, the folk dance of Punjab. The Principal joined them with the hope that the coming year would bring happiness in the lives of the students and teachers as well. She emphasized that Lohri festival prompts people to be thankful for God’s provision and also encouraged teachers to play a vital role to keep our traditions and culture alive. festivities.

ARMY DAY CELEBRATIONS GDGPSP celebrated the 71st Army Day with fervor and pride in the school premises. The day was celebrated on January 15 to commemorate the day when Lieutenant General KM Cariappa took over General Sir Francis Butcher as the Commander-in- Chief of India on January 1949.

Patriotic fervor warmed up the cold winter morning as guests, teachers and children of GD Goenka enthusiastically gathered to celebrate the Republic Day. Republic Day was celebrated at GD Goenka at the school ground on 26 January with great vigor and zeal. This was followed by the March Past by all the four houses – Tagore, Teresa, Vivekananda and Radhakrishna. The Athletic Meet added great zeal, excitement and frolic filled atmosphere in the ground. The ‘Go to School Fun Race’, 100 Mtr, 200 Mtr and Relay Races remained as the main attraction of the celebration. Then all the students of the respective grades performed their iteniery. The students truly spent the day in a memorable way.

BOOK WEEK 'Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or a duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift' GDGPSP celebrated book week in effort to sensitize the students and drive home the significance of books in our lives. Each and every day is filled with opportunities to expand our reading horizons, whether this is within large or small groups, before school, during breaks, in classrooms, inquiry spaces or in warm and cozy reading places..During book week many activities were organized like mystery reading, reading campaign, tedx speakers, book corner etc fun and learning. BOOK WEEK

BASANT PANCHAMI CELEBRATION “Basant Panchmi” is an occasion which marks the advent of the spring season and is also celebrated to worship Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge and wisdom. This day was celebrated in our school with great fervor and enthusiasm. Yellow color – representative of spiritual knowledge, is given importance on basant panchmi.The children of the pre – primary wing came dressed in yellow clothes, offered yellow colored flowers to the Goddess and also brought yellow colored food in their tiffins. The dress code of the teachers on that day was also yellow. The whole school assembled together to pray and attain blessings from Goddess Saraswati to reach the epitome of knowledge. The pooja started with a beautiful Saraswati vandana. The children enjoyed the day, enlightened by the blessings of Maa Saraswati.

UFFRAIL’S VILLAGE CHILDREN VISIT TO GDGPSP CAMPUS Few days back we invited the students of Uffrail village to our school. Uffrail Village is a small village of tribals which has been adopted by our school under the Harihar School Initiative. The school has taken up the initiative for the welfare of the people of that village and to help impart education to the under privileged kids that live there. We had various programs arranged for these kids. Goenkan kids took a few classes with these kids like basic maths, English foundation, etc. This was followed by a delicious lunch and then a toy train ride to show them the infrastructure. Every child enjoyed these sessions and was very happy to be here in our campus at GDGPSP.

Education plays an eminent role in the growth of every individual. It leads to the foundation of success in their career and life. Thus the mode of teaching and learning should be wisely focused to instill concrete learning amongst the learners. To fulfill such a demand of the modern education system and the duly recognized CBSE Board, our school GDGPSP possesses all the essential infrastructure in bringing up global citizen to the world. It includes lab rooms for various subjects like language lab for language, Science Lab for science and Math Lab for mathematics for classes 1 to 8. The labs are suitably equipped with necessary equipments with optimum safety measures. Lab activities are mandatory part of the curriculum and are conducted under the supervision of trained facilitators {educators}. We GDGPSP fully believe in the saying, \" I hear, I forget, I see , I remember, I do , I understand.\" Learning by doing is what we emphasis on. And this helps us achieve our school motto – HIGHER, STRONGER AND BRIGHTER. LAB ACTIVITIES

INNOVATION Young minds are the inventors. Inventions sprout when thoughts are irrigated with water of freedom and encouragement. Every individual is unique and special and differs from the other. Here is where GDGPSP stands out from other schools. Innovation is again a compulsory part of our academic curriculum. Every scholastic subject [areas] welcomes the innovative ideas of the learners. Each lesson in various subjects is followed by innovation by the students. Learners are motivated to carve their ideas beyond the box. This encouragement gives wings to their thoughts and they happily fly high. Where innovation is appreciated and documented in the innovation room, specially designed for this purpose. Their active participation and enthusiasm acknowledges how happy they get when they are liberated to express their views and ideas. GDGPSP is a landmark in education system today standing true to famous poem's extract – ' lay me where the mind is without fear\", by world renowned poet, Rabindranath Tagore.

HOUSE BOARD DECORATIONS House Board decoration is an integral part of yet another activity in GDGPSP, which instigates a feeling of healthy competition to secure the first position for their house amongst the students. The students are classified into four houses on the names of great personalities of India, namely Radhakrishnan House, Teresa House, Vivekananda House and Tagore House. The house board decoration topic is decided pre-hand on the value of that particular month. Students of each standard excitedly take part and put up their art, writings, craft, etc on their respective house boards. An attitude of oneness and competition is developed in their character through such activities. Imagination, creativity, co- curricular activities are boosted by this. Every last day of the month each house show-cases their hard work on their respective gallery board. Activity coordinator and the Principal take pride to rate their work.

STAR STUDENT Every student is unique and different from the other with special ability, potentiality and talents. With the help of special teaching method and curriculum our students are getting the opportunity to become a STAR STUDENT OF THE MONTH. During the school year, every student gets this opportunity. Students are selected based on their all-round performances such as good attendance, punctuality, discipline, active participation, studies, social relationship etc. The “STAR STUDENT OF THE MONTH” is declared on the last day of every month starting from Grade I to VIII. All the students feel encouraged to put in their best to become the best in their class. HOSTEL- A HOME AWAY FROM HOME Home is a place where everyone has a sense of being safe, loved and cared. GDGPSP proudly proclaims that they procure the best infrastructure hostel rooms and facilities with all standard basic amenities. Keeping in mind the health of students, proper nutritional diet is served to the students for the desired growth of every individual. Students are procured with well furnished AC room, attached rest room and bath room. Experienced wardens, act as a fatherly and motherly figure 24X7 in care of the children. Besides wardens, teachers are appointed as hostel parents who shower their love and care just like their own kids. Different teachers keep monitoring their academic progress and help them resolve their queries and difficulties in their studies. Roommates are just like siblings and wardens and teachers serve as parent. It is highly surveillanced by professional securities. It wouldn't be wrong to say GDGPSP HOSTEL is a home away from home.
