Message from Chairman Dear All, The COVID-19 pandemic has changed education dramatically. It has impacted the way we usually approach our teaching and learning strategy, especially in school with schools closed globally and over 1.2 billion children are no longer in classrooms. we at G.D Goenka Public School, Purnea have taken this opportunity to explore new horizons. My personal opinion is that we have indeed learnt a new way of operating school virtually but let us go slow and also pray that we return to our school physically at the earliest, so as to help in the holistic development of our students. In this present pandemic situation students can advocate few everyday preventive actions that include 1.Covering mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue while coughing or sneezing. dispose of used tissue immediately. 2.Washing hands often with soap and water and 3.Cleaning frequently touched surfaces and objects. Parents have a bigger roles to play with students being home-bound due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Parents are recommended to help provide a sense of normalcy in their child's life by incorporating a structure and routine by making them attend the Virtual classes regularly on time, submission of the tasks assigned to students without absenteeism is also important for their growth. Together we shall overcome the new challenges and learn to accept that we can live a minimalist lifestyle. Hope we learn to be more grateful and express our gratitude to nature for all the blessings that we had taken for granted. HAPPY LEARNING! STAY HOME STAY SAFE! Regards Piyush Agarwal, Chairman G.D Goenka Public School, Purnea.
Due to the lockdown situation, everyone’s work is being done online. Things like school work, grocery shopping and even birthday parties are now happening online. As the schools will remain closed until further notice from the government, we decided to make this hot summer of our Goenkans little cool and full of fun with the Virtual Summer Camp. Since mask wearing, frequent hand washing and social distancing is the best way to decrease chances of getting the corona virus, Virtual Summer Camp was the best thing to have helped your kids stay safe and have some fun. The Virtual Summer Camp – COOL BLUE CAMP was organised for 3 days. It started with the virtual campfire where students decorated a part of their home and played music and danced with the campfire. Campers started their first day with Yoga to build strength, balance and confidence. They also grooved to the music while doing the dance activity. Fun with maths made them explore maths through stories. Skit and art competition was also a part of summer camp to awaken the artist in our campers. They also enjoyed the music activity by singing songs. Science activity was also enjoyed as they learnt new fun experiments. Kids always crave exploration and discovery so a treasure hunt was also organized. VIRTUAL SUMMER CAMP

VIRTUAL PTM Parent teacher meetings are a great way for parents and teachers to bond and cooperate with the intention of making the child’s future better. PTMs are important to keep parents informed about their child’s progress and performance in academics as well as co- curricular activities. With more and more of our daily communications taking place digitally rather than being face to face, the PTM has also embraced the virtual platform. At GDGPSP we organised our first online PTM this July. The school was delighted to witness the synergy between parents and teachers in making it a success. Parents are playing a significant role in making online learning at GDGPSP a success and we always look forward to hearing what parents have to say. Virtual PTM has helped teachers and parents connect virtually to engage in a transparent and open discussion for the children’s better future. It also helped us take feedbacks and suggestions from parents as to how we can improve the virtual school experience for our students.
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA Yoga plays a crucial role in promoting health in a holistic manner by improving physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Emotional development, good health, fitness and hygiene are important aspects of personality development and yoga can help our children achieve that. Amidst the ongoing corona virus pandemic, this year we asked our students to celebrate Yoga Day at home with their family. A virtual session was organized for students and their parents in order to celebrate International Yoga Day from the comfort of their homes. A large number of students, parents and teachers participated in it. The main idea was to encourage students to stay active and healthy amidst this lockdown.
Assemblies are an important feature of a school’s routine. They also form a significant part of the school’s curriculum. They are a means to create a positive, reflective ethos and promote value-based education. Assemblies powerfully nurture the development of intrapersonal intelligence. So our school gives great emphasis to well planned morning assemblies which helps our students showcase their potential and talent on a large platform even during lockdown. Our school assembly includes compeering, prayer song, theme song, news headlines, and some theme based presentation by the students which is usually impressive and nicely prepared. SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES
VIDEO JOCKEY – WAVE OF RESONANCE The Radio Jockey and Video Jockey sessions in our school helps our students improve their public speaking skills and groom their personality. It also makes them outspoken and confident speakers. It gives our children an opportunity to express themselves and talk about all their work that they do. It is always nice to see our students sounding like they are hosting a stage show. They also interview their parents as they are the RJs or VJs for the day. The Radio Jockey Club helps our kids come out of their shell and speak their hearts out. This is one of the many activities we do in school so that we can nurture and help our kids grow into strong and outspoken leaders.
Mathematics expresses itself in every sphere of life and has eternal importance. Many students had interest in doing maths activity instead of doing the co-curricular activities. So GDGPSP inaugurated Ramanujan club to keep students involved in some maths activity. The students of grade 1 to 9 were involved in the activities with the aim to infuse the spirit of innovation and aptitude towards mathematics and also to increase scientific temper. Some of the activities done by the students were making foldable on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, making riddles, writing biography of Ramanujan in a booklet, doing a role-play on concept like congruency, types of angles , and making a model of geometry box with all the tools. To conclude, the students imbibed new ways and methods to learn more about the magical world of mathematics. RAMANUJAN CLUB INAUGRATION
Amidst the lockdown, GDGPSP has taken up the challenge posed by COVID-19 to conduct virtual classes as well as online activities such as environment day. Students of grade 1 to 3 were involved in different activities to help them understand the role that nature plays in our lives. Students enthusiastically participated from home in activities endorsing conservation of environment to mark World Environment Day. They took part in various activities such as making bird feeders, posters, flag for nature, footprints from colours, etc. They also enjoyed a candle light dinner in order to save electricity and conserve Nature. INNOVATIONS AND BEST INNOVATORS At GDGPSP, we believe in being innovative. Being innovative does not means inventing. Innovations can mean to change an existing product, idea or field or to create a new one altogether. It is the process of improvising and bringing new ideas to life. Students always try to be innovative, so they always think of putting forth the ideas that come into their young minds. Every month students who have come up with the best innovations in different subjects from each class are recognised as the “Innovator of the Month”.
STAR STUDENT OF THE MONTH This great incentive is used to help build classroom community and allow a healthy and competitive atmosphere for the whole class. Every month one students from each class gets an opportunity to be the star student for the month. Students are selected based on certain criteria that they need to fulfil like Word Wizard, GK Icon, etc. They are also judged on their performance like good attendance, punctuality, discipline, social qualities, etc. At the end of every month, based on these achievements, one student is declared as the “STAR STUDENT OF THE MONTH”.
