Statement of the problem The research applied pre-experimental, one 01 group pre-test – post-test design. The population of the research was eleventh grade that consisted of five classes and class XI IPS 3 was chosen as the sample. T here were 26 students in this class Pre-test was conducted to investigate students’ reading comprehe n. sion before treatments. The result indicated students’ reading comprehension was fair. Meanwhile, post-test was conducted to 02 examine students’ reading comprehension after treatments. Furthermore, it can be concluded that there is significant effect of using CIRC technique. In line with that, it can be concluded that Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) technique is effective to improve students’ reading comprehension .

Conclusion Based on the finding and discussion in previous chapter, the writer gives some conclusion about the effectiveness of CIRC technique to improve students’ rea ding comprehension as follows: 1. Students’ reading comprehension before using CIRC technique was fair. The total score obtained was 1725. The highest score was 75 and the lowest score was 50. Hereafter, the mean obtained was 66.35. In conclusion, the students’ reading comprehension was fair. 2. Students’ reading comprehension after using CIRC technique was good. Each student had done the test; consist of 20 questions. The total score obtained was 1900. The highest score was 85 and the lowest score was 60. Hereafter, the mean obtained was 73.08. In conclusion, the students’ reading comprehension was good. 3.CIRC technique is effective to improve students’ reading comprehension.
