Week 5 Title: Van driver faces sack for slapping woman's face Author: Bangkok Post Source:https://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general/1557470/van-driver-faces-sack-for-slapping-womans-face Summary According to the news, the driver of a Bangkok-Lop Buri passenger van willbe fined and blacklisted by the state-owned Transport Co and also faces he sackafter a video of him slapping a female passenger’s face went viral online. Thisassault took place in the Rang sit area. The assault victim wrote about whathappened and posted a video on her Facebook. On the way to Rang Sit, she received a phone call from a colleague and theywere talking about their work schedule and she had not said anything about the vandriver during the conversation. After the van arrived in front of Future Park Rang sitshopping mall, she and some passengers got out. Suddenly, the driver walked towardher and slapped her face, wrote the woman. Before the incident, she said, she heardthe driver call out, “Why did you blame me?” At the time, she said she did not knowhe had been talking to her. She then turned her head to look at him to find who hewas referring to. She got the answer when he slapped her face, said the woman. My reaction/reflection: It is very sad to me that everybody else standing around this woman whowas just slapped is showing absolutely no concern for her. They are standing there asif nothing has happened. What I am trying to say is people should do somethingabout this issue; they shouldn’t ignore this inappropriate situation. Human rights arereally important and that is something we should keep in mind. Page 2 of 4
