BBG AND EMBASSY UPDATE Not just as her consort, by her side every day of her reign, but as her husband, her “strength and stay” of more than 70 years. And it is to Her Majesty, and her family, that our nation’s thoughts must turn today. Because they have lost not just a much- loved and highly respected public figure, but a devoted husband and a proud and loving father, grandfather and, in recent years, great-grandfather. Speaking on their golden wedding anniversary, Her Majesty said that our country owed her husband “a greater debt than he would ever claim or we shall ever know” and I am sure that estimate is correct. So we mourn today with Her Majesty The Queen, we offer our condolences to her and to all her family. And we give thanks, as a nation and a Kingdom, for the extraordinary life and work of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. BBG AND EMBASSY UPDATE Notes from the Office The BBG Abu Dhabi office team would like to offer sincere thanks to all of our members who have so far renewed your membership for 2021, and to welcome the many new joiners to the Group in recent months. As you know, our BBG Abu Dhabi Committee took the decision to extend all 2020 memberships and sponsorships until the end of Q1 2021, in light of the impact of COVID-19 on your businesses, and whilst we began to undergo a strategic review of our Group (an update on which you can read about on the next page). This meant that we reduced our 2021 membership and sponsorship rates by a quarter, offering nine-month memberships at pro rata levels from April to December, giving an even more cost effective price than ever to be part of BBG Abu Dhabi. In Q1, we are delighted to have welcomed many new members to the Group (you can check out some of their profiles on the New Members page). As a not-for-profit organisation, we are extremely grateful for the support of our Corporate Sponsors. We were delighted to renew so many of our long-standing Sponsors again for the remainder of 2021, and to welcome some new companies on board too. Thank you to our 2021 Corporate Sponsors as follows: Gold: Barclays, BP, Intertek, PWC, Rolls-Royce, Shell, HFW Silver: Al Emarat United, The Fry Group, Houbara, Myrcator Marine & Cargo Solutions, NES Fircroft, Readymix Abu Dhabi Bronze: InterContinental Abu Dhabi, Fast Rent A Car, Guardian Insurance Brokers, Mediclinic In other news, we are excited to let you know that we will soon be launching a new and improved BBG Abu Dhabi website. BBG Abu Dhabi members will be given a unique log in to access additional benefits including a dedicated platform to connect directly with other members of the Group and enjoy virtual networking on the site.
