Delamere Field Archers Wooden Arrow Shoot 1st April 2018 It may have been Easter Sunday, but that didn’t deter 51 archers from arriving for the shoot. Sixteen different clubs were represented, with an age range from six to 79. Most people had actually booked in, but we were easily available to accommodate those who arrived only thinking that they had booked in! Archers started arriving around 08:30 & soon both registration & catering were busy. Fortunately everybody had remembered to bring their new NFAS cards with them so nobody had to be turned away. The shoot started at 10:00, with most archers taking a break as they passed the camp area & food tent. This meant that the catering tent was pretty busy for several hours & thanks must go to Viv, Phillipa, & Derek for their sterling work. In addition to the more normal static targets, the course currently boasts a moving, downhill running boar. This was enjoyed by all, even though only a very small number actually managed to hit it! Special thanks to Bill, Chris, & Andy who spent the day winding the thing back uphill numerous times. As it was Easter, there were eggs & yellow chicks out in the wood. If you were lucky, the eggs contained chocolate – if you weren’t, it was a pine cone! The amount of laughter heard on the course was echoed by the numerous positive comments which were received during the day (& subsequently on the NFAS page on Facebook) regarding how much fun it had all been, & how much people had enjoyed it. As always, a huge thanks to the small number of hard working club members who made the day possible, without you these events simply wouldn’t happen. Wolfshead Field Archers 25th February 2018 ~ By Andrew Cross ~ The weather on the day of the first Wolfshead open shoot of 2018 was good for the time of year, staying dry with relatively little wind. Later in the week the 'beast from the east' snow arrived bringing large parts of the country to a standstill, so our 67 guests were fortunate to be able to appreciate the new targets and course improvements unhindered by the elements. It was good to see new faces among the regulars archers who participated in the shoot. We hope that you enjoyed yourselves and look forward to seeing you all at our future shoots, together with those who couldn't make it this time. Anyone attending our future open shoots on 10 June and 2 September 2018 will be th nd assured of a warm welcome and an interesting course amidst the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. The John Hartfield Memorial incorporating The English Field Archery Championship 2018 by Ian Brown. Every year around the middle of May the John Hartfield Memorial shoot takes place at Daventry Sports Club. It is one of my favourite shoots and combines a very good cause and the English Championship. The John Hartfield Memorial Fund was created to support up and coming Field Archers. The fund has grown over the years and has helped a lot of archers. Please put this shoot in your diary for next year and come along to support a worthy cause and have a great weekend of archery. A very well laid out course and good weather made for an excellent shoot. Good food and drinks are served in the clubhouse during breaks. The Saturday is an unmarked day with Sunday being the marked day. After the Sunday shoot is finished there is a Head to Head for the top 4 archers from each style. 62
