UNIVERSITAS TERBUKA Making Higher Education Open to All Alumni Testimonies Linda Gumelar FISIP (Graduated in 1997) Universitas Terbuka is a choice provided by the government for the people who graduate from senior high schools, especially those who do not have a chance to continue their education because of various limitations, such as employment or family commitments. We may have practiced many things, but still we need to know the theories of what we have done so far. Other universities in Indonesia have not been able to offer flexibility in their learning programs. Universitas Terbuka is the online choice that the government has provided. Rori Achir Master’s Degree Program (Graduated in 2010) Studying at Universitas Terbuka was really fun. My school mates were getting along very well. helping and encouraging each other. In addition, the university itself always motivated us and was very helpful. I am very proud and thankful to all staff at the Jakarta Regional Office, UT Graduate Programs at Pondok Cabe, as well as to my advisors and lecturers who have been so helpful and always given us motivation as well as solutions for the obstacles that we faced. May UT success continue in the coming year and become the pride of the nation. I hope UT will soon offer the doctoral programs. Bayu Oktara FISIP (Graduated in 2016) I am proud to be a student and a graduate of UT. I think we all agree that education does not only mean to be smart, but also to build character. There are not so many universities that educate their students to have a positive character like UT. Therefore, I am very proud to a graduate of UT. In the future, I hope that there will be many more UT alumni who can make a significant contribution to the nation and to their own hometown. I also hope UT can inspire many more people to make our country more developed. (Bayu is currently a student of Management with specialization in Marketing of the Master’s Degree Program) General (Ret.) Dr. H. Moeldoko, S.IP., M.M. FISIP (Graduated in 2001) Assalaamu’alaikum wr. wb. My fellow brothers and sisters, the big family of Universitas Terbuka. I am proud to be a graduate of Universitas Terbuka, The 45th state university in Indonesia. Universitas Terbuka has given me an opportunity to study which at the same time I still could pursue my military career. It is an honor for me to become the chair of the Ikatan Alumni Universitas Terbuka (IKA-UT) of 2019-2024. IKA-UT is a huge intellectual organization. Currently, there more than 1,7 million alumni living throughout the country and in 36 countries. This is an enormous potential, particularly in the information technology era like today. Time flies, things change. It is a chance for Universitas Terbuka to become the most modern university in Indonesia and in the world. The world has entered the 4.0 Industrial Revolution era. Now, we have Google, YouTube, LinkedIn that can be used as a means for learning by Universitas Terbuka students. The Indonesian government has built fiber-optic cabling infrastructures up to 50,087 kilometers that reached 440 regencies in 34 provinces. This offers Universitas Terbuka a chance to reach every single area in Indonesia. It is time for Universitas Terbuka to become the foremost university in educational achievements. Online learning facilities that Universitas Terbuka has, at the moment, must be optimized as an effort to become the Cyber University of Indonesia. Now, Universitas Terbuka has a chance to become the most outstanding university in Indonesia. Universitas Terbuka must become a pioneer in implementing IR 4.0 in the education field. Universitas Terbuka is challenged to provide interactive learning materials, link and match programs between the university and industries, and modern interface learning system. I believe that the achievements that Universitas Terbuka has reached will become the pride of the nation. Wassalaamu’alaikum wr. wb. 19
