The story of one man’s life-time obsession with trains and how KHAO YAI station came into being Back to the past in King Rama V who is considered the father of modern Thai railway system, as it was the first railway lines were built in Thailand from Bangkok to northeastern line. Somsak was born at Nakhon Ratchasima who dedicated himself to a railway since he was young. He heard about plans to build an extension from Pak Chong to Khao Yai he decided to build a station at Khao Yai in anticipation of the new line and this he planned to use as the ticket office, and for himself a small dwelling behind the main façade, into which he eventually moved his entire Railway collection. Years have passed and the railway still shoots North East from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima by passing Khao Yai. Anyway, we would like to share you the Somsak’s journey who devoted the rest of his life to recording his journeys, our Khao Yai station is a testament to a quiet yet passionate spirit that had the iron rumble of the railway tracks and the whistle of its locomotives, running through his blood. 3
