UPTO THE MINUTE Canon, in India, has currently released the new EOS R3 full-frame mirrorless camera, which will feature a newly developed 35mm full-frame, backlit, stacked CMOS sensor and a DIGIC X image processor. The new camera was designed to provide the high-level basic functionality required to meet the needs of professional and enthusiast users. The currently developed EOS R3 was based on the concept of high speed, high sensitivi- ty, and high reliability. The EOS R3 aims to provide professional-level quality for both stills and video capture, even for moving sub- jects. 07

The EOS R3 was the first EOS series camera to be stacked with a CMOS sensor that makes high-speed readout possible. The camera also features a DIGIC X image processor for high-speed image process- ing that realizes high-speed continuous shooting of up to 30 frames-per-second with AF/AE tracking when using the electronic shutter, the camera significantly reduces image warping and is also capa- ble of capturing moving subjects with reduced noise in such low-light environments as indoor areas or nighttime scenes. In addition, the EOS R3 was Canon’s first digital camera to feature Eye Control AF functionality. When shooting still images and looking through the viewfinder, this new feature enables the AF frame to adjust according to the detected movement of the user’s eye, making it pos- sible smoother shooting with quick focus when transitioning between subjects. The EOS R3 answers the sophisticated needs of professionals by providing dust and water resistance developed with each iteration of the EOS-1 series, body design with integrated vertical hand-grip, reliability, and ease of use. With the goal of expanding the possibilities of imaging for users, the EOS R system will continue to expand its lineup of impressive cameras and RF lenses. 08

READER’S VIEW What is an 'eye'? It's describing the way you see, having an 'eye' for photography is more about having a knack for seeing things in a unique or artistic way. It's all about your creative vision. The Photog- rapher’s Eye is not a general digital photography book that covers all aspects of photography instead it focuses upon the element of Com- position. The subtitle of the book probably says it best - ‘The Photog- rapher’s Eye – Composition and Design for Better Photos’ written by Michael Freeman. Freeman goes on to talk about how the technology of digital photography is important, but that it is actually the deci- sions that a photographer makes that are more important. This book is about those decisions. It is concerned with photographic style and with photographic tradi- tion; with the sense of possibilities that a photographer today takes to his work. The simple structure of the book is built around the five key addressable components that every photographer has to make decisions on inclusion in confirming what the final image will look like and what intent it will portray, this helps make photography more understandable and opens up interpretation of an image that many viewers would have missed on first viewing. 10
