EDITORS’ NOTE This month starts with the funniest day of the year, as you guessed it's April Fools day. Though it starts like this, the warm sun, cool breeze, temperate climate, and bloom of flow- ers, uplift anyone's spirits. The month of April is a favorite among many. As summer vaca- tion approaches, most probably everyone will start to plan their vacation. One such good plan to spend the vacation is watching movies. Almost everyone will love to watch movies. The soothing power of cinema is miraculous. Cinema changes the way we see the world. Cinema is more than a visual medium – it combines almost every element that is involved in art: symbolism, theme, background, and subject. Not only cinema has offered entertain- ment to us, but it has acted as a place where transformation and ideas are shared. There is more to cinema than entertaining society - it educates society. IS CINEMA ONLY ABOUT PLEASURE AND LEISURE? ? In our hectic schedule, never did we forget about the updates on the cinema, and never did we fail to have frequent visits to the theater, at least once in a couple of weeks. We feel very happy and very much relished to see some cooked stories on the big screen. Not to be very specific only about the fantasies but including the biopics too. Cinema is a masterpiece, where the biggest points and views could be said in a couple of hours easily. The famous myth runs parallely in everyone's mind, 'Silence has so much meaning', the piles of dialogues spoken will be invalid in front of valuable silence. The silence decodes the unbound languages in all the forms, and notes in cinema add a feather to its crown. In the movies, the actors, and actresses who play their roles, not only act and compete in their profession but also do something impactful to society and mankind. As their faces are renowned among the people, they would be a great reach for doing something good. Some use their fame for their self-benefit, some get rewards, im- proving their skills henceforth, like icing on the cake, and very few of them make use of their identity wisely by doing some benevolent notable works. Some of those identical figures in the field are Akshay Kumar, who took the initiative to tackle the sanitation crisis in India, Alia Bhatt is the one who is now campaigning for the welfare of street dogs and cats, and Deepika Padukone is notably launching many campaigns like More Than Just Sad, You Are Not Alone and Dobara Poocho, Kangana Ranaut about Nepotism, Sid- dharth for the tweets in Chennai floods, Surya for Agaram Foundation and the list goes on. There are many known faces to be recognized by us once again from another per- spective. In my view, fortunately, the movie artists are the only ones who have so many faces on the reel and only one face in reality. The Cinema field is something like that of a big ocean, it is very difficult to get in, but once if our presence also counts too, it would be a very tedious job to come out. Cinema speaks and provokes most of our emotions, where we get an opportunity to pursue new things through good cinemas. Many of us have the wrong perspective that watching a movie equals beating a dead horse. It com- pletely depends on the viewer's choice to view the content and choose it wisely. To be very short, Cinema is not only about pleasure and leisure but also about something deep that one must imbibe. 05

MOVIE REVIEW Forensic, is touted to be the first-ever Malayalam film based on the forensic depart- ment of the Kerala govern- ment. The film is a whodunnit psychological crime thriller that unravels the identity of a serial killer with the help of the forensic department. The film flagrantly declares the crux of the story in the open- ing captions, “Psychopaths don’t have any motive. The crime itself is his motive. The story revolves around a series of child murderers and the role of the investigation officer and the forensic de- partment in solving this mys- tery. It also gives a glimpse into the psychological rea- sons behind the formation of serial killers and psychopaths. Rithika Xavier, the investigating officer, makes her appearance, taking necessary action to find the abducted victim. Medico-legal advisor Samuel John with whom she shares some uncomfortable history joins her in the pursuit. Shikha teams up with Samuel and they unveil evidence that might lead to the killer’s identity. The case takes a dramatic and unusual turn when the proof of a child committing these gruesome crimes gets released. But the child is just a puppet, and a means to an end. There is a mastermind who is roaming free and committing more crimes. The suspense burns at full steam as a series of plot twists appear before us. Who is the perpetrator and what is his intention forms the basic plotline of Forensic. The film obviously receives appreciation for sticking to its title and showing how the protagonist used different methods of forensic science to catch the real culprit. 06

IMPACT OF CINEMA \"The cinema has no boundary; it is a ribbon of dream.\" Audiovisual input and output devices are in abundance these days and so are movies and films. Everyone watches videos be it on TV, on social media, or in cinemas. The film industry is arguably one of the most impactful sectors in modern society. Sitcoms and comedy shows make us laugh, psychological thrillers help us see the world from an improved perspective, and historical films help us understand where we’ve come from as a people. Every video and every film reflects society and transforms opinions. A good movie will en- tertain, educate, and inspire the viewer in many ways. Think of the impact that songs have on people, for example. They make us think. They make us compassionate. They inspire us to help others and to do good to and for hu- manity. There are many films whose plots give us reasons to rise up every morning and venture into the world with hope and optimism. Movies such as The Pursuit of Happiness (2006) and The Bucket List (2007), for example, have inspired their viewers to work towards making the world better for every- one. Every movie is set and developed in a particular culture. They are an in- tegral part of us; they mirror what we believe in and how we coexist as people. Besides mirroring our diverse cultures, the film has for a long time been shaping our beliefs and values. Movies are evidently very impactful in today’s world. 07

ELIXIR’2022 As the phrase goes, “If you have good health, you have everything.” Many people don’t appreciate their health until they aren’t well. After 2 long years, we the Rota- ract Club of GCT Coimbatore has success- fully completed our flagship event \"ELIXIR- THIRD GCT's MEDICAL THIRUVIZHA ''. The camp started with the inauguration cer- emony. Our college's Principal-in-charge Dr. R. Thenmozhi mam, and our club's staff co- o rdi nator D r. P. Il amathi mam, our speci al invi tee D R R R tr. P P. Keerthi Vi vek j oi ned us to make the inauguration ceremony more special. The camp was sponsored by Dr. Agarawal's eye hospital (eye), Ramakrishna Dental hospital (Dental), Ishwarya hospital ( General body checkup), and Government Hospital (blood donation). Elixir'22 wouldn't be made possible without their support. The camp was organized for 3 days. For the first day, a blood donation camp, eye test, and general body test was organized. For the second day, a blood donation camp, eye test, dental checkup, and general body checkup were organized. And for the final day, general body checkups and dental checkups were organized. 08

The total number of participants who attended the medical camp were approximately 3715 among which 1139 eye check-ups, 1155 dental check-ups, and 1421 gen- eral body check-ups were done. The total blood donors registered for the camp was 301 among which 163 donors donated their blood. The medical camp ended with a valedictory ceremony in which Rtn. Rajesh Chinnaswamy (Youth Service Director), Rtr. I PP. Res hm a ( G R S ) , a n d m a n y IPPs and Presidents from other Rotaract Clubs have attended this ceremony making it a memo- rable event. Felicitations were given by other Rotaract Club Presidents. As the quote says “Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul” we presented the mementos to our event organizers. Getting the ap- propriate kind of health checkup is vital for every human being. We are very much satisfied with organizing this medical camp for our GCT Staff and students. ELIXIR’2022

To clean the Public garbage area, we the Rotaract Club of GCT Coimbatore has successfully completed the event \"வர்ணம்- Let's nurture nature to have a nurturing future\". Here we cleaned up the messes and repainted the discolored and dirty walls in the public garbage in Sai Baba Colony with a nature-based theme. The motto of this event is to create awareness among the public about keeping our surroundings clean for a healthier environment. \"The objective of cleaning is not just to clean, but to feel happiness living within that environment.\" NOTABLE PROJECTS Jzp(Nthk;)-ig(y;Nthk;) Earth day is a time to remind us that the environment we live in, while bold and strong, also requires a lot of protection. So to make the small step in creating an eco-friendly world, we the Rotaract Club of GCT Coimbatore feels elated in completing the event, Providing and promoting Eco- friendly bags\", on the account of International Earth day. Here we organized a campaign by distributing cloth bags to pro- mote the use of eco-friendly bags at GCT-Thadagam road. OUR HAPPENINGS E L I T E ELITE -XIV Rotaract District Conference was organized on 3rd April at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. This conference was hosted by the Rotaract Club of CIT, the Rotaract Club of CBE Majestic, and the Rotaract Club of Adithya. The event reports of each club were presented as a video. The District Cabinet members for the Rotary year 2022-23 were released here. The nomination for the next DRR Elect and the results were also released here. Master Abdul Kalam, Actress Mirnalini Ravi, Actor Kishen Das, and social activist Mr. Karthikeya Sivasenapathy were the guest speakers at the conference. Team Nakkalites also took part in the conference. Team ELITE recognized the person who is 108 years old, an organic farmer, Padma Shri Pappammal. Our Club has received the certificate of ap- preciation for exemplary performance in Partners in service avenue of RID 3201 for the Rotary year 2021-22. III PRESIDENT SECRETARY MEETING The III Presidents and Secretaries meeting for the Rotary year 2021-22 was held on 2nd April at Chamber Hall, in which our Club's President and Secretary have also marked their presence.
