B777 EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT 8.80.1 Oxygen 10 NOV 16FLIGHT ATTENDANT MANUALOxygen SystemsTwo independent oxygen systems are provided: one for the flight deck andone for the passengers and flight attendants. The oxygen system consists of: A cockpit fixed oxygen system A cabin fixed oxygen system A portable oxygen systemEmergency Oxygen –Passenger and Flight Attendant Passenger CabinThe passenger oxygen system is supplied by chemical oxygen generators.Oxygen masks are contained in the oxygen stowage box located inlavatory ceilings, crew rest bunks, and in the passenger service unit (PSU)above the passenger seat. One mask is supplied for each passenger seatand two for each lavatory. Pulling on the mask turns on the flow of oxygento all masks contained in the PSU.Oxygen is available for approximately 22 minutes.Masks automatically drop from stowage and a continuous flow of oxygen isinitiated when a mask is pulled. Pulling on the mask causes oxygen flow. The system activates automatically if cabin altitude exceeds approximately13,500 feet. If a group of masks fails to drop, the oxygen maskcompartment may be opened manually.Note: If the masks fail to drop from a PSU, the cover of the oxygen compartment can be opened manually by releasing the door latch. The latch can be opened by inserting a hair pin or a thin rod into the hole of the compartment cover. The system may be manually activated by the flight crew at any altitude bypushing the passenger oxygen switch on the flight deck.WARNING: the oxygen generator surface temperature may reach 260°C when generating oxygen. Don’t touch or attempt to remove generator. Burn injury can result. If an active generator is inadvertently removed from compartment, it must be placed in a metal container such as lavatoror galley sink. Heat will scorch other materials or fabrics.
B777 EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT 8.80.2 Oxygen 10 NOV 16FLIGHT ATTENDANT MANUALFlight Attendant OxygenDue to the height of the ceiling in the airplane, flight attendants may not beable to reach the oxygen masks at their stations when in their seats withtheir seat belts and harnesses on. When the oxygen masks deploy, theflight attendants must pull on the yellow streamer that falls from the oxygenbox. The streamer has the word PULL stenciled onto it.Pulling the streamer allows the mask to drop and turns on the flow ofoxygen to the masks and provides oxygen to both masks.
B777 EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT 8.80.3 Oxygen 10 NOV 16FLIGHT ATTENDANT MANUALOxygen Mask Panel Cockpit Cockpit Crew Member Station1 Oxygen Flow Indicator .Shows a yellow cross when oxygen is flowing.2 TEST/RESET Switch .Push –• if mask is stowed, activates oxygen flow momentarily to test regulator• once activated by opening the right stowage box door, the maskmicrophone and regulator remain active until the right door is closed andthe TEST/RESET switch is depressed.3 Regulator and Inflation Lever (Hidden) .Grasp Regulator and pull up –• allows mask removal from stowage box• activates oxygen and microphone when right stowage box door opensSqueeze Inflation Lever –• inflates harness.
B777 EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT 8.80.4 Oxygen 10 NOV 16FLIGHT ATTENDANT MANUALCockpit Oxygen Mask and Regulator 1 2 Cockpit Crew Member Station111 Regulator Selector .Rotate -• EMER - supplies 100% oxygen under positive pressure at all cabinaltitudes• 100% - supplies 100% oxygen on demand• NORM - supplies air/oxygen mixture on demand (ratio depends on cabinaltitude). 2 Harness Inflation Buttons (one on each side of regulator) .Squeeze (with right stowage box door open)• inflates mask harness• deflates mask harness when buttons are released.
B777 EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT 8.80.5 Oxygen 10 NOV 16FLIGHT ATTENDANT MANUALCabin Oxygen SystemOxygen flows from a PSU generator when any mask hanging from thatPSU is pulled. An Extra mask is provided for Double, Triple and Quadruple seat row, except for Double Seat 1DH in Magnifica Class that is provided with twoextra masks. The masks automatically drop from the PSUs if cabin altitude exceedsapproximately 13,500 feet. The passenger masks can be manuallydeployed from the flight deck by pushing the overhead panel PASSENGEROXYGEN switch to the ON position.Oxygen flows for approximately 22 min and cannot be shutoff.CAUTION: The oxygen generator surface temperature may reach 260 C° when generating oxygen. Do not touch or attempt to remove generator. Burn injury can result. If an active generator is inadvertently removed from compartment, it must be placed in a metal container such as a lavatory or galley sink. Heat will scorch other materials or fabrics.Note: Odour similar to scorched cloth may be created by activation of generators. The odour does not affect the purity of the oxygen and there is no fire hazard.

B777 EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT 8.80.7 Oxygen 10 NOV 16FLIGHT ATTENDANT MANUALPortable Oxygen Bottles *Note: the bended shape of the pressure gauge needle is a standard design feature (when applicable).Note*: up to 3 flow outlets can be installed (2LPM, 3 LPM, 4 LPM).
B777 EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT 8.80.8 Oxygen 10 NOV 16FLIGHT ATTENDANT MANUALOxygen Therapy ApparatusIf passengers needing oxygen therapy are carried, a suitable apparatus isinstalled on the airplane near the passenger himself (either stretched orseated) and properly fixed by maintenance personnel. This unit consists of a mask assembly with 2.13 meters hose and quickdisconnect fitting, a 1086 litres (max pressure 1800 psig) steel cylinder or1132 litres (max pressure 1850 psig) composite cylinder, packaged in asturdy ABS plastic case fitted with a convenient carrying handle. Fullopening door provides easy access to SHUTOFF Valve Knob, pressuregauge and operating instructions. Each of the units provides a safe, convenient means of administeringoxygen to passengers on commercial air carriers or air ambulances. Achoice of 2 litres/minute (with an autonomy of 6.5 hours) or 4 litres/minute(with an autonomy of 3.5 hours) flow of Oxygen is available from twoconstant flow outlets. When oxygen therapy equipments are not in use, shutoff valves shall beclosed.

B777 EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT 8.80.12 Oxygen 10 NOV 16FLIGHT ATTENDANT MANUALDecompressionIf cabin altitude exceeds approximately 10,000 feet or the passengeroxygen system is manually deployed by the flight crew, the followingautomatic events take place: • cabin lights come on full bright • five HI chimes sound • NO SMOKING/FASTEN SEAT BELT signs illuminate and corresponding chimes sound • the DECOMPRESSION pop-up window appears on the cabin management system displays wherever one of these screens is displayed: • CABIN LIGHTING • ENTRY WAY & CROSS AISLE LIGHTSThese events warn the flight attendants that a possible decompression isabout to occur. Flight attendants must sit down, fasten their seat belts, andprepare to put oxygen masks on.Note: The oxygen masks automatically drop from the PSUs if cabin altitude exceeds approximately 13,500 feet. The oxygen masks may also be manually deployed from the flight deck.Note: Guidelines for decompression while occupying either the door 1 upper crew rest or the door 3 upper crew rest area are contained in Chapter 11, Crew Rest Non-Normal Situation Guidelines.
