The Elegance of Ellington: A Sit Down with the Powerhouse women behind the Brand Talia Foster, and Ashantae Marion are the proud owners of The Ellington Event Center. After years of searching they have found the perfect venue, and created a blank canvas for our guest to create the perfect look. We sat down with Ashantae & Talia both are moms, serial entrepreneurs, and philanthropist, and asked a few questions! What gave you the inspiration to create this look for your venue? Ashantae: Well, we wanted a space that would serve as a blank canvas for our guest. A lot of times we hear people complain that they want a space that's bare so that they can create their own look. What’s more of a blank canvas than a beautiful all white space. Talia: We wanted to go with a clean industrial look so we found a space with an exposed beam ceiling and we had sparkling white floors installed. White is so easy to decorate and our guests can choose to add color or stick with a clean look. Tell us about your vendor program? Talia: Our vendor program is open to event professionals in all areas. With our program we give the opportunity to receive leads to book clients at our venue or outside of our venue so in other words our vendors receive client info for all the leads we bring in. This gives our vendors the opportunity to increase their customer base. can! What advice would you give people looking to open their own space?Ashantae: I would tell people to just stay persistent! It takes a while to find a place that will fit your needs, but the wait is worth it. Patience is truly a virtue! With that being said, look around, don’t grab the first thing you see. What’s for you, will be for you. Page 8

Page 9 Talia: Determine if you want to lease or purchase. Right down a list of must have items and put them in order of priority. Have a budget of how much you can spend on a space with renovations and supplies needed. Looking for a space can be stressful but don't give up! What goes into picking the perfect venue? Talia: When I am looking for a venue I look for a space that has onsite parking. I also look for a venue that doesn't need a ton of decor to make it beautiful. I also love unique venue spaces. It's also important to have a venue that offers the basics such as tables and chairs. Ashantae: When I’m searching for the perfect venue I look for, 1. Parking. Will my guest be able to park comfortably? At Ellington we have more than enough parking spots. 2. I look for their restrictions. How many restrictions there are tells me how original I can be. At Ellington we have policies and restrictions, but none of them will stunt your creativity. Lastly, I look for aesthetics. Can I flip this place upside down to create a bomb look! At Ellington, you definitely can! Talia Foster, AED Ashantae Marion
