Idea to production: The CSI Show Countless script drafts, 50+ emails, 6 guests, 4 hosts and 1 amazing season later, Presenting The CSI Show!! The CSI Show is a platform where we talk to individuals of our community who have made a difference and come a long way on their journeys and are inspirational to the young “locked-down” minds of today’s engineers. We speak to them about a variety of topics including their own stories, how they got to where they are today, who were their inspirations amongst many others. The idea of such a concept came to us in October 2020 when we thought amidst all the negativity around us in the world, could there be something that inspires us to be better and achieve our goals. What if we could learn from the experts in their fields and add to our knowledge? And so began our hunt for these amazing people. After much effort, when we had our guests onboard was when the real work began. Researching at great lengths about our guests, probably going through every social presence they’ve ever had, we didn’t want to just know the superficial aspect of their success, we wanted to know the intricate details of their journey with each interview question meticulously prepared for the guest. The format of the show was rather simple. Two hosts from our team would interview the guest on their past, coming to where they are today, their present, on what they’re currently working on and what’s in store for their future. With over 3 hours of footage of fun conversations with our guests to the episode going live on YouTube, the backbone of the whole process was a team effort. 16
Idea to production: The CSI Show Why did we take all this effort and for what? Our reason is simple: we believe in transforming students into better, more competent versions of themselves irrespective of their field of interest, and this was just one step towards that goal. Giving students an insight into the paths of some of these well known faces, all power houses in their fields, motivating them to carve their own paths, stimulating them to think of their challenges and encouraging them to achieve those goals they once set. Ours was but a small helping hand, prompting them of that dream and a reminder to accomplish the plan. As I conclude, The CSI Show has been an experience like no other. Being a host of three episodes myself and actively involved in this entire process has taught me so many things. This is a memory I will cherish for the rest of my days. To all the viewers out there, thank you for tuning in every episode and to those who still haven’t seen it, go check it out! The CSI Show Season 1 is now on YouTube!
