Family Devotion 2022-02-27 The Fool's Folly Read together Psalm 53:1-6 ESV This psalm describes the atheist and gives eight reasons why he is a fool. First, he does not acknowledge God (v. 1). He lives as if there is no God. He does not obey God. (v. 1) Some people think that human nature is basically kind and good. Not so. We are revoltingly corrupt by nature. No one is righteous. (Romans 3: 9-10 ESV). He does not understand God. If you don't have the Spirit of God, you can't understand the things of God. Atheists say they won't accept anything they can't understand. Actually, there is little in the world they do understand! The fool does not seek God. (v. 2) No one by himself seeks God and comes to know Him. God invites us to seek Him, and He has mercy on us. He does not follow God's way (v. 3). God has ordained the right path for us. Being a Christian is not easy, and many people do not want to pay the price. The narrow road leads to life and is tough; the broad road is easy way until the end (Matt. 7: 13-14). The fool does not call on God (v. 4). Such people are jealous and do not treat others right. He does not fear God (v. 5). The day will come when the fool will be afraid. He lives with false confidence and one day will face judgment. He does not hope in God (v. 6). The person who leaves God out of his life has no future. God's people have a future of eternal life. (Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.) However, anyone who professes to be a Christian but lives like an atheist also is a fool. May Jesus help us acknowledge the goodness, greatness, and majesty of Almighty God. –– Warren Wiersbe's – A Daily Walk Through the Psalms, 2011, pg 154. Reflection: The atheist lives as if there is no God. As a child of God, you, loved by God, eagerly await eternal life. However, if you fail to walk with the Lord, you behave foolishly. Lay hold of your spiritual resources in Christ and hope in Him. Praise Him and Pray: Psalm 53 Song https://youtu.be/JirsdJnOqUo?list=RDJirsdJnOqUo 7

Dear Pastor and MICs, As you have already heard from last year Board of Mission report that we are planning to run Digital Mission Trip (DMT) or Short-term Mission trip with the aid of digital media to Japan in 2022. In fact, we now hope to expand the ideas further and start preparing and perhaps even start running some of these experiential DMT to PNG, Cambodia, and Nepal as well. We are working toward gearing up our missionary contacts in these countries to host DMT with the necessary trainings. We hope that we ourselves will start getting to know what ‘DMT’ is, so that we can promote them in our church effectively and start getting involve in DMTs with hosting countries. The Board of Mission has arranged an introductory session on “Introduction to DMT” which will be presented by Ps Lisa from Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference (SCAC). SCAC is running 47 DMT in 2022 to all the destinations where they have missionaries. Hence, we should seriously consider these opportunities and gear our members to get involved as well. Introduction to Digital Mission Trip (Chinese) Speaker: Ps Lisa Date: 13/3/2022 Time: 8PM AEDT (Sydney, Melb and Tas 8PM, Perth 5PM, Adelaide 7:30PM, Brisbane 7PM) Zoom ID: 844 1993 5679 (Passcode: CMCA#dmt) Thanks. Blessings in Christ, Rev David Tiong (Board of Mission) 11
