Devotion Week 8: 28th March 2021 Theme: Tough Minded Faith for Tender Hearted People Hymn: I Know Who Holds Tomorrow https://youtu.be/C7BtGs1w6hA Bible Verses: Philippians 3:13-14 ESV 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Faith is setting a goal. God’s thoughts must take the form of good and godly goals. No act of faith is more dynamic, more constructive, than setting incredible goals. Have you noticed how negative thinkers avoid setting goals? “Goals – who needs them? I’ll just wing it, thank you. I prefer to roll with the punches.” “I don’t want to get trapped by a commitment. Isn’t that what happens when you set a goal?” “I’ve had enough disappointments. I don’t want to be set up only to be let down. Goals? No more failures, thank you.” Failure is not a matter of failing to meet your goal. Failure is not making the most of the possibilities seen and unseen, known and unknown, in your present and in your future! Use faith to set goals, and you’ll be sure to rise to the high plateau. You are walking the walk of faith, thinking God’s thoughts, seeking God’s guidance. Hebrews 12:1 ESV Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. Now, how can you possibly succeed when your goals are beyond your grasp? What you must do is think, plan, and chart your course through the uncharted waters before you. You must develop a strategy and a scheme that will allow you to succeed. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Now exercise your faith by affirming… I am trusting God to give me wisdom to chart my course as carefully as a captain who looks at a map, choose his route, and calculates the time and resources needed to finish the journey. I want to reach the destination and see God’s dream for my life accomplished. I am planning to make it possible. Reflection: Did you seek God’s guidance and set goals for your life? What are they and have you write them down? Did you plan and chart your course? Prayer 8
