Family Devotion 2021-09-05 Generational Blessings He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. (Psalm 24:5-6 ESV) Some of your memories are probably gatherings where multiple generations came together to celebrate and share. It is exciting to experience the beginning of a new life, whether it is a wedding, graduation, or the birth of a child. Memories are sweet, and relationships are formed during these times. God’s family extends beyond this life and through many generations, becoming a blessing for past, present, and future generations. His family goes back to the beginning of time – the Book of Genesis and will never end. Loving God will cause your influence to extend beyond today and flow over into other lives. Seek ways to be a blessing to many. Psalmist David emphasizes that those who want to worship and serve God and receive his blessing must be pursuing a pure heart and a righteous life. “Clean hands” are hands-free from external acts of sin (1 Timothy 2:8). A “pure heart” refers to inward holiness, right motives, and goals. Only the pure in heart will see God (Matthew 5:8). Those who receive “blessing from the Lord” are those who “seek him” (verse 6) with “clean hands and a pure heart” (verse 4). We should remind ourselves of this every time we call on God in prayer, worship him in his house, or seek his grace in the Lord’s Supper. God’s wondrous love embraces us and welcomes us into His family; therefore, let’s seek to bring our family to seeks Him first ‘Christ Above All’ and seek ways to be generational blessings to others. “Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don’t wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it’s at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.” – Earl Nightingale. Praise: “In His Time” – https://youtu.be/aJeNUlNY7Iw Prayer: Father God, you are an Awesome, Loving God. We praise you, a true and living God. Loving God, thank you for drawing us into your family as children of God and for blessing us. Lord, lead our family to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to us as well. Lord Jesus, grow us to believe the truth that you have loved us as the Father has loved you. Fill us with the joy of the Lord and the delights of having family devotion to bless your name. Deliver us from the evil ones, protect us with your precious blood of Jesus Christ and bless us. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray, Amen! 7

Board of Christian Social Concern 2021 August - September Prayer Points 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 NIV 1. Pray for CMCA identity to be a beacon of light in our local community and our city: Pray for the church to get to know our local community, be more aware of their needs and reach out to their needs in Christ’s love. Pray for God to use each church to build bridges with the community and grow His kingdom. 2. Pray for breakthrough in evangelism: Pray God help us live out the theme ’Caring for the community to reach the Lost.’ Pray for eyes that look beyond the walls of the church, equip members for evangelism to walk out into the community and see what God wants us to see and do what he wants us to do, pray for boldness to share God’s love and proclaim His name to bring the Lost into His kingdom. 3.
