Family Devotion 2022-03-13 Are You Thirsty? Psalm 63:1-11 ESV (Together Read-aloud) 1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. 3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. 4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name, I will lift up my hands. 5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, 6 when I remember you upon my bed and meditate on you in the watches of the night; 7 for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings, I will sing for joy. 8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. 9 But those who seek to destroy my life shall go down into the depths of the earth; 10 they shall be given over to the power of the sword; they shall be a portion for jackals. 11 But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by him shall exult, for the mouths of liars will be stopped. King David wrote this psalm when he was in the wilderness of Judah. What a dry and barren place it is! Look at what David wrote: \"O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water\" (v. 1). In other words, David says, \"Here I am in this dry, hot, dangerous wilderness, and I really would love to have some water. However, what I really want is God.\" What do you do when you find yourself in a dry wilderness situation in life? Follow the stages in David's experience. First, he seeks God. He wanted to see God's power and glory as he had seen it in the sanctuary. He wanted to see that wilderness turned into a sanctuary. David had been in the tabernacle. He had seen the glory of God, but he wasn't satisfied with that. We are satisfied to hear about God and sing about Him in church. Then we come to the wilderness. We should be like David and say, \"I want to see God's glory through this wilderness experience just as though I were worshipping God in the church service.\" Next, he blesses God. \"Thus I will bless You while I live\" (v. 4). David also is satisfied with God. Satisfaction doesn't come from circumstances on the outside. It comes from blessing on the inside. \"When I remember you upon my bed and meditate on you in the watches of the night\" (v. 6). Finally, David rejoices in God. “But the king shall rejoice in God” (v. 11) That’s what God wants from us, even in the wilderness. –– Warren Wiersbe's – A Daily Walk Through the Psalms, 2011, pg 175. Reflection: Wilderness experiences are good for you, for they teach you an important truth: You draw satisfaction from blessing on the inside, not from circumstances on the outside. When you face a wilderness experience, follow David’s response. God will meet your needs. To Praise Him and Pray: Thy loving kindness is better than life https://youtu.be/JllGU0qYBgk 7

Dear Pastor and MICs, As you have already heard from last year Board of Mission report that we are planning to run Digital Mission Trip (DMT) or Short-term Mission trip with the aid of digital media to Japan in 2022. In fact, we now hope to expand the ideas further and start preparing and perhaps even start running some of these experiential DMT to PNG, Cambodia, and Nepal as well. We are working toward gearing up our missionary contacts in these countries to host DMT with the necessary trainings. We hope that we ourselves will start getting to know what ‘DMT’ is, so that we can promote them in our church effectively and start getting involve in DMTs with hosting countries. The Board of Mission has arranged an introductory session on “Introduction to DMT” which will be presented by Ps Lisa from Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference (SCAC). SCAC is running 47 DMT in 2022 to all the destinations where they have missionaries. Hence, we should seriously consider these opportunities and gear our members to get involved as well. Christian Book Discussion Club 阅读小组 Christian book discussion club is a group of people who meet to discuss a book and grow together in truth and in knowledge in a practical way. Marriage: 6 Gospel Commitments Every Couple Needs to Make When you say “I do,” you begin the journey of a lifetime― and you have dreams of that journey being perfect. But it won’t take long for expectations of the perfect marriage to fade away in the struggles of everyday life. A long-term, vibrant marriage needs to be grounded in something sturdier than romance―it needs the life-changing power of the gospel. In this rebranded edition of What Did You Expect? Popular author and pastor Paul David Tripp encourages couples to make six biblical commitments to the Lord and to one another. These commitments, which include a lifestyle of confession and forgiveness, building trust, and appreciating differences, will equip couples to cultivate thriving, joy- filled marriages built on Christ. As a parent, your words are powerful. What you say and how you say it has the potential to either invite your children into deeper relationship with you or push them away. What's more, in a very real sense, your words represent--or misrepresent--God's words to his children-- meaning they have the power to shape how your children view their heavenly Father. Offering practical guidance for grace-filled communication in the midst of the craziness of everyday life, this accessible guide will help you speak in ways that reflect the grace God has shown to you in the gospel.
