Dragon and Robots

1    Once upon a time before humans completely ruled the Earth, two species were living on Earth. The gentle, caring robots, led by their elder Pompeii, and ​the intrepid, brutal dragons,​ led by Nidhogg the chaos. T​ he Robots live in an underground city, and the dragons live on a floating island in the clouds.​ Both tribes live their lives without interfering with each other, until that day… “I want it,” said Nidhogg as he transfigured into his human form. “The force underneath the land, currently tamed, but powerful,” said Nidhogg a​ ssertively​. Nidhogg sits on his throne and summons his warriors. On the same day, a young adult named Diamond is laying on a hill, staring at the sky. “Why is life so hard?” he talked to himself and sighed. Diamond is not a normal human being, he is one of the dragons. However, his existence was not approved by most of his kind. As a dragon, he was expected to be able to shoot fire breath, ice beam, or any kind of projectile attack. But instead, the only thing he could perform was to harden his scales to block, which will also immobilize himself p​ rovisionally​. This caused him to be treated as the perfect punching bag for the other dragons. “Diamond” a metallic voice called him while he was in ​retrospect.​ ​The voice is from a robot.​ The robot stands behind him and slowly moves towards him. “Hi Pompeii”, said

2    Diamond lifelessly, he is not surprised at all. Pompeii is Diamond’s only friend. In fact, he is the leader of the robots, for he is the most knowledgeable. They first met at the same place, the hill next to the entrance of the underground city. Pompeii sits next to Diamond and begins to talk. “Feeling down again?” Diamond does not respond. “Well, you must understand that every living being has its purpose of existence, and it applies to you as well. Your ability is very unique. No other dragon can block attacks as well as you do”, said Pompeii. “Let's take my species as an example. Our mother Mumu fueled us with her power. W​ ithout her power, we are just lifeless metals, so we decided to pay her back by following her will and used her power to protect the upper world.​ That is our purpose of existence.” “It is time for you to find your purpose in life.” Diamond smiled, he was inspired by Pompeii’s talk. He thanked Pompeii and transformed into dragon form and flew off, he got something to achieve now. Back on the floating island, the dragons are planning on invading the underground city. “Nidhogg can feel the force under the crust, he said it is under the city of robots, so the plan is to break

3    in, if they fight back, obliterate them one by one.” said general Qwartz, a pale white dragon. Diamond came back to the island and saw something unusual. The dragons seem like they are preparing for warfare. Diamond rushed toward a dragon. “Hold! Emerald, what is going on?” asked Diamond. “Oh, look who is here! Ha! The useless Diamond. We are planning to attack the robots, they have some sort of energy and we want it. So do not interfere since you can’t even help” said a dark green colored dragon. Emerald walked away, and this is the moment that Diamond realized he had never seen a preparation on this grand scale before, literally everyone is preparing for war. If something is not done, the underground city will be destroyed completely. At the time when it was destroyed, the world would start to corrupt. Most importantly, Pompeii said that the energy source is what keeps them alive. “I can’t let this happen,” thought Diamond. In the i​ nterim​ before the invasion, Diamond hasn’t realized, but he has found his purpose in life. Time has passed, and the day is today. The dragons are prepared for war. All of them, but one, followed Nidhogg to the entrance of the underground city. One by one, humanlike dragons jumped off the edge of their island and transformed mid-air. They flew in a triangular formation, with Nidhogg in the first row and the rest behind him. After thirty minutes of flight, the dragons arrived at the entrance of the underground city. It is covered by two pieces of doors, each of them is ten square meters. The door is made of some special enchanted wood,​ the only way to open it is to have enough power. On Nidhogg’s command, Several dragons concentrated their power and blast onto the door. Lightning and fire damaged the doors, however, the damage was e​ phemeral​ and the door repaired itself within

4    seconds. The same scenario repeated until every other dragon tried once, but resulted in the same. Nidhogg sent out a command and the dragons stopped. Then, he started to charge and give off the most powerful blast. His power formed a light green beam and shot straight at the crack between the two doors, but the door was never opened and repaired immediately. The dragons did not notice, but it was Diamond on the other side, hardening his scales at his best that protected the door. The robots used their power to heal Diamond constantly, and Diamond positioned himself in the middle l​ ike a shield​ to block the excess attack. Eventually, the dragons gave up and headed back home.
