Principal’s Desk “When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied”. Life is very precious and living a healthy life is much more precious than that because without health, life is food without taste. Good health provides us the opportunity to make our life more joyful and excel in each activity that we desire. At EuroSchool North Campus, we believe in joyful experiential learning system where each child is encouraged to participate whole heartedly. With a wonderful blend of learning with sports as an integral part of holistic development even the virtual classes have not bogged down the spirit of our ever-enthusiastic sports faculty. The sports and yoga classes keep the children engaged and refresh them for active learning and at the same time puts a stress on the importance of having good health and wellness. We leave no stone unturned to offer multitude of opportunity to our children, it is for them to make most of it. We believe in empowering our children in such a manner that they act as representative of a meaningful and value-based society! Our pedagogy which is holistic and comprehensive, complements this. On such example of this is celebration of Kannada Rajyotsava where students displayed their fabulous performances and enjoyed learning about our beautiful state Karnataka. At EuroSchool North Campus, each day that unfolds, is a wonder and a miracle! Class Activities

Pre-Primary Orange Day Celebration 'Unity in Diversity' marks the celebration of Orange Day. Tiny tots in orange radiated warmth and happiness, combining the physical energy and stimulation of red with the cheerfulness of yellow. The children of Pre-Primary Section celebrated Orange Day with a sole objective to acquaint themselves with the concept of this secondary colour and objects related to it. The children were exposed to a series of creative activities to help them understand the positive impact of orange. The teachers and children both in harmonious shades of orange enjoyed creating the hues and tints of this colour by blending red and yellow. The activity helped in reinforcing the concept of orange colour and in creating a cognitive link between visual clues and words among the tiny tots.

Pre-Primary Purple Day Celebration The colour purple has been associated with royalty, power and wealth. Purple is the highest colour in the visible spectrum. This colour is known as one of the “cool” colours. To make the students aware of the purple colour, the day was celebrated at school. Every student was in a purple-coloured dress. Children had fun with riddle games and spoke a few lines about purple colour. The purpose of the celebration with education was fulfilled. It was a fun and frolic day for the little ones.

Pre-Primary Fun with shapes It was a day of ‘Fun with Shapes‘ in the Pre- Primary wing on Monday, 30/11/2020. Our tiny tots walked the ramp and interpreted the shape they donned and noticed how each shape looked different. The fun- filled and joyful activity provided our little ones a platform to develop and showcase their latent talent. Amazing and magnificent display of their creative abilities enthralled the audience. Thus the day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Grades 1-2 Earth Paper Crafts Students of Grade 1 were introduced to our planet- Earth. It was heart-warming to see the enthusiasm and zest with which our little ones are performing the activities. The little ones created masterpieces that were impressive and exceptionally beautiful. They all made beautiful Earth Paper Crafts which exhibited grasslands, mountains, and water bodies on Earth. Every student chose the Earth image as the virtual background and it looked amazing. Hats off to the parents too, who are encouraging them and trying to make the best of the limited resources they have. We hope that to keep organizing more of such activities in the coming weeks too, with the same zeal.

Grades 1-2 Virtual Tour - Jelly Belly Candy Factory Jelly Belly Candy Company, formerly known as Herman Goelitz Candy Company and Goelitz Confectionery Company, manufactures Jelly Belly jellybeans and other candy. The company's signature product, the Jelly Belly jellybean, comes in more than 50 varieties, ranging from traditional flavors like orange, lemon, lime, and cherry, to more exotic ones like cinnamon, pomegranate, cappuccino, buttered popcorn, and chili-mango. \"Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans\" were inspired by the Harry Potter book series and featured intentionally gruesome flavors such as \"Vomit\", \"Earwax\", \"Skunk Spray\", and \"Rotten Egg\". Our little Grade 1 students were pleasantly surprised to see different colours of candies, and the process involved in making these candies.

Grades 1-2 My Culture Day Culture is the way we express our tradition. Indian culture is very special to all Indians, even to all people around the world. India is the only country that deals with several traditions. These traditions are followed by many centuries from the ancient time. With an objective of reinforcing the topic and to make them aware of different culture and traditions, we celebrated “ My Culture Day”. The Grade 1 students were decked up in their traditional attire, they looked stunning and adorable in their traditional costume. They were asked to speak about their rich culture and tradition, students were waiting anxiously for their turn as they expressed about their tradition and culture wholeheartedly. The celebration concluded with Diwali celebration; the children were thrilled and excited to showcase their decorated diyas.

Grades 1-2 Monuments of India India is a rich country in culture, traditions, heritage buildings, temples forts and palaces. Famous Indian monuments include, Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, Red fort, Gateway of India, India Gate, Lotus temple to name few. Each monument holds its own special significance. One such finest historical monument is Taj Mahal. The marble inlay work is a masterpiece, and it is an eye grabbing decorative element. The technical name of the artwork is Pietra Dura. The inlay art technique includes cutting, fitting polishing and drawing pictures on colored stones. To understand it better Pietra Dura work was done by the students with the help of clay and plastic stones. Children enjoyed the inlay work.

Grades 1-2 Our Little Farmers India is an agricultural country. Our prosperity depends upon our agricultural production. For achieving this the Indian farmer’s contribution is very vital. India, as a matter of fact, is a land of farmers. Nearly 75 percent of our population lives in villages. A farmer is a person engaged in agriculture, raising livestock and by growing variety of plants which serves as source of food. A farmer is a very soul of nation. Children of Grade 2 dressed up as farmers and showcased the tools used by them, their attire as well as the kind of work done by them. The adorable little angels spoke in Kannada to describe a farmer.

Grades 3 - 5 Forms of Matter Students of Grade 3 were taught about forms of matter and their properties. In this regards, an activity was conducted for the better understanding of the concept. Students displayed different solid, liquid and gaseous things from their household. They showed different solids, variety of liquids like milk, juice, oil, sanitizers and gaseous things like aroma essence, gas balloons etc. Children used different shaped containers to show that liquids and gases don’t have fixed shape rather they take the shape of the containers. All children readily participated and enjoyed the activity.

Grades 3 - 5 Different forms of Money While discussing money and its uses, Grade 4 students were shown samples of pebbles, cowry shells, coins and currency notes and debit/credit cards and discussed how each is/was used. The difference between a debit and a credit card was clarified. They were also shown a copy of a cheque. The children were told that just as they keep their things in lockers in the school and each locker has a number by which they know where their things are, when people keep their money in banks, their bank gives them a number, which is their account number.

Grades 3 - 5 Adaptation with presentation Students of Grade 4 learned about adaptation of different animals in Science and incorporated the same in ICT by making beautiful presentations on ‘Adaptations of animals’. They learned to search pictures and save it from internet. They also learned to make pictures as backgrounds and use it appropriately with different slide layouts. They even learned to use cliparts, wordart, and other formatting options. They thoroughly enjoyed using PowerPoint presentations.

Grades 3 - 5 The Measurements Story Grade 5 has done an activity on the topic ‘Measurements’. Students were divided into 5 groups and told them to make a story involving units of length, mass and capacity and its conversion into other units. They were sent to breakout rooms to discuss. All the groups came up with different stories and ensured participation of all the team members. Students enjoyed the activity, and they could apply the concept of conversion of metric units in fun way.

Grades 3 - 5 Mastering history through technology Students of Grade 5 made beautiful presentations on the history of India. They chose different dynasties and how it had an impact on India, thus presentation was creating through MS power point. Students learned to inculcate pictures and sound in ppt. They even learned to apply themes and templates according to the content. Students enjoyed a lot when they were connected to the past with the current technology.

Grades 6 – 8 Health is Wealth A school is a place where we prepare our future generation for a better living and aware individuals through a multitude of activities. Blending art with language is one such innovative way to make them learn with fun. A poster making activity was conducted for the students of Grade 6, where students created posters on “HEALTHY LIFESTYLE VERSUS UNHEALTHY LIFESTYLE”. It is very important to have healthy, eating habits in this world of fast food and what a better way than students expressing themselves !!! …. And making others also aware through their beautiful posters and catchy slogans !!

Grades 6 – 8 Algebra is Fun Grade 6 has done an activity on the topic ‘Algebraic Equations’. Students were divided into 3 groups with the names - Variables, Constants and Terms. They were given 3 different equations to solve using any method. The rubrics of the activity they are graded with also were informed. They were sent to breakout rooms to discuss. All the groups came up with different ways of presentation like coding, using weighing machines etc. and ensured participation of all the team members as well. Students enjoyed the activity and at the same time teacher could make out whether students have understood the concept and different methods to solve the equation. It helped them to understand the concept of algebraic equation and its core concept of how an equation is kept balanced in every step we do.

Grades 6 – 8 Life of Buddha And His Teachings Life of Buddha and his teachings were depicted with The advice of the Buddha : the help of a short movie on 'The Buddha'. Not to do any evil, To cultivate good, To purify one’s mind. Students of Grade 6 could connect with this as it is applicable in today's circumstances, Buddha emphasized to follow the middle path, not too much nor too less.

Grades 6 – 8 Technology to teach Construction in Math Grade 6 children started with basic construction where they first started with construction of circles, concentric circles with the use of Compass. Grade 7 children learnt to construct parallel lines with the help of compass and ruler. Grade 8 children learnt to construct quadrilaterals based on their previous knowledge. The teacher taught construction of circles, parallel lines and quadrilaterals using the mathpad tool. In all the grades, the children enjoyed the session and constructed the circles, parallel lines and quadrilaterals accurately. It helps to assess the student’s understanding of the concept of using compass and ruler to construct. The children tried their hand at constructions and found it exciting to acquire and put these new skills to practice.

Grades 6 – 8 Ma Recette In French class, Students of Grade 8 shared a recipe of their own. Their presentations were not only creative and colourful but also mouth watering ! In a clear French, each student presented the ingredients and the different steps of preparation… The only thing we missed was the taste of it!

Grades 9-10 Story Telling As a practice of Comprehension, students of grade 9 enjoyed a video, story narrated by their teacher: “La plus Mignonne des Petites Souris”. It was also a way for the students de reinforce the understanding of the tenses used in narration: Imparfait et Passé Composé……and an invitation for them to create and narrate their own story!... in French, bien sûr! Students came up with stories of all kind, framed in their own creative way…. Tales on animal, families, God, and many more… with interesting morals at the end!

Achievements and Celebrations

Kannada Rajyotsava Karnataka state observes Karnataka Rajyotsava on November 1. Also known as Kannada Rajyotsava, the foundation day is one of the biggest festivals in Karnataka, and it is celebrated with great pomp and grandeur every year. EuroSchool North Campus organized a virtual event to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Kannada Rajyotsava. The dress code for the event was yellow and red, the two colours of the Karnataka flag where Yellow signifies Peace and Red signifies Courage. The event took place on the 24th and 25th of November 2020. The programme was inaugurated by the customary lighting of the lamp to invoke the blessings of the Almighty. One of our students gave a welcome speech in chaste Kannada. The celebration of Kannada Rajyotsava commenced with the playing of Naadgeete, the State Anthem, “Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate” which is a Kannada poem composed by the Indian Kannadiga poet Kuvempu. HOD of Kannada Department , Mr Manjunath N spoke about the significance of the day. The audience were shown glimpses of the weeklong celebrations in the form various competitions that were held in the school. This was followed by some mesmerizing performances from our talented students which included folk dance, Bhavageethe and Janpadageethe. The winners of the various competitions were announced which added to the celebrations. After the vote of thanks was proposed, the programme concluded by playing of the National Anthem. Kannada teachers roused the children to develop love for Kannada language as it helps to uphold the culture and heritage of Karnataka State. The event generated a sense of pride in the minds of the students, for being part of a culture that is so rich and vibrant.

E-Lit fest MERAKI 20-21 EuroSchool North Campus won accolades at the recently concluded E-Lit fest MERAKI 2020-21 organized by Billabong High International School, Santacruz We take immense pride in bringing forth to you the triumph and victory our little champions have exhibited. We are happy to share that our students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm and WON In most of the competitions that were conducted. Heartfelt congratulations to our Superstars. We wish them many more laurels in times to come.

Healthy lifestyle for overall wellness. - Deeksha A, Grade 6 A Lifestyle is the way in which we live, it includes habits, attitude, practices, etc. Quality of our life is linked to the lifestyle we adopt. In the current times, most of us are leading a fast-paced life and do not maintain a balanced lifestyle. This affects our overall wellness and our social life as well. A healthy lifestyle is when there is a good mix and balance of healthy diet, good sleep, exercise and stress management. Exercise: Regular exercise to maintain fitness and stay active and focused and help in physical and mental fitness. Lack of exercise causes high blood pressure, stroke, coronary heart diseases etc. Sleep: Appropriate sleep time and wake up time and proper amount of sleep is a necessity .Lack of sleep may cause tiredness, irritability, mood swings, stress, sleep disorder etc. Food habits : There are several types of food habits based on the food choices people make. The two main ones are: Junk food: Junk food like biscuits, pizzas, burgers etc. must be avoided or eaten very rarely as it is bad for our health. Unhealthy food habits can lead to obesity, heart diseases, stress, risk of cancer increases, cholesterol levels increase, sleep disturbance, nutrients and minerals deficiency diseases, mental health issues like depression, anxiety etc. Healthy food: Fresh fruits and vegetables like orange, tomato, spinach etc. should be eaten. Benefits of Healthy Food are longer life span, good physical and mental health, enhances immunity, improves energy levels, regulates body weight, improves memory and concentration, reduces risk of heart diseases and some cancers, less chances of illnesses etc. To adopt to a healthy lifestyle for overall wellness, we must inculcate a daily routine which consists of exercises, healthy food, sleep. Start with reducing intake of junk food and consume more healthy food such as fresh fruits and vegetables, cereals, millets etc.; at least 10 minutes of exercises or yoga every day; and sleep and wake up at the right time. Gradually increase the exercise time and healthy eating habits to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Coral reefs Did you know that there are underwater cities which are not filled with people but with beautiful fishes, and wondrous sea creatures ! They are called coral reefs and - By Sai Jaanya , 6A they are extremely important. Let’s explore these amazing ecosystems. So, just what exactly are coral reefs? Called “the rainforest of the sea”, coral reefs are slowly formed when coral polyps secrete calcium carbonate skeleton , which protects the coral polyps a place to attach themselves. The largest coral reef is the Great Barrier Reef, which spans over 2,600 kilometers and has been growing for about 20,000 years! The reef is located in the coral sea , off the coast of Queensland, Australia. The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from outer space and is the world's largest structure made by living organisms. The reefs are some of the most diverse ecosystems on Earth and home to countless sea creatures from tropical fish to Sea Cucumbers to Dolphins. Scientists even predict there could be millions of undiscovered species of organisms living around the reefs. So why are they so important? Besides their awesome aquatic life, coral reefs play a role in protecting shorelines around the world from storms and erosions. Through fisheries , the reefs provide many people with an important source of protein and nutrition ,especially in developing countries. This also makes them extremely important economically, even more when considering tourism of the reef are great stimulants of their local economies. Experts believe that coral reefs are worth billions of dollars ! Due to their vast biodiversity ,coral reefs also have the potential to lead to countless life saving advancements in medicine , possibly helping us find better treatments or cures for diseases like arthritis, viruses , or even cancer !!

Women Empowerment is made up of two words women and However, due to female feticide practices, girl child numbers are decreasing empowerment. Empowerment means to give power or authority to sharply in India. The literacy rate in girls is very low. Most of the girls are not someone. So, Women Empowerment means power in the hands of even provided with primary education. Moreover, they are married early and women. Lantern Crafts Diwali also known as Deepawali is festival of light to mark triumph of good over bad success over failure. The tradition is believed to be as old as Hindu great Epics itself; celebrated across India. It is a festival of lights and people celebrate it with light up their homes and meet their family, friends share greetings and gifts with their loved ones. Students of EuroSchool North campus conveyed their feelings about the essence of the auspicious festival through making cards, diyas and lanterns for their family.

Buzzing Sports Classrooms “All work and No play makes Jack a dull boy” As the above saying goes for the holistic development of our students, regular sports classes are held where the students are taught the nuances of different sports. For badminton they are taught how to handle the racket and hit the shuttlecock. They are taught how to hold the dumbbell and exercise safely. For skating they are explained about various levels of skating. They are also taught how to balance ball over the shoulder and rotate the hula hoops.
