PAREB NEWS News from within and outside the first and largest real estate organization in the country PAREB Gears Up For Week- long Anniversary Celebration Written by Carlos Pascasio For the second time during this pandemic, the Philippine Association of Real Estate Boards (PAREB), Inc., celebrates another anniversary starting from May 10-15, 2021. All the PAREB business committees - Project Selling, Multiple Listing Service(MLS), and Business Fellowship Fridays(BFF) are preparing to have separate activities to highlight the celebration. There will be CSR activities, the combined NCR-Luzon and Visayas-Mindanao Regional Conferences, and the actual Anniversary celebration, itself to cap the week -long celebration. Acting PAREB National President Dante Salamat leads the Hold-over team of the 2021 National Directorate in the busy preparation to make the festivity remarkable, interesting, and memorable. A new committee , PAREB Media, is set to be launched on May 13, 2021. All PAREB members are encouraged to participate. On this issue: 1 BFF’s Pres. PAREB Woman in Leadership Pres. Abby on her poster ad Meeting PAREB -RBR President Abigail Lim for the first time was one of the most memorable experiences in my life. I was immediately drawn to her welcoming smile. She radiated with genuine warmth and sincerity - the kind that gives you the feeling of home. And no, I did not even sense that she's a PWD. It was only later, when we were talking in private that I learned of her congenital hearing impairment. She was born with a severe hearing impairment that also affected her speech. Yes, Abby is a person with a disability, but she has never let this get in her way. Aside from heading PAREB - RBR , Abby also leads Brokerspaces Business Solutions Inc., a BNI Star Events Coordinator, and runs her own business, Alfox Printing

Meeting PARE RBR Presid Abigail Lim forSomephotosof Pres. Abby A busy life, indeed! But what does Abby say about busyness? \"Everybody is busy, but for me, busy is just a word. It is more for aiming to be more productive. It took me a while to learn how to shift from doing everything myself to delegating some work to team members. Delegating is a skill every leader must learn to maximize each member's potential and achieve more. I was able to cope up with things by being able to prioritize and schedule activities. This has allowed me to be able to handle and lead several teams/organizations.\"

B ut who is Abigail Lim beyond the titles and accolades, and what are her plans for our organization? Read on. L eaders are made, not born. Like many PWDs with Abby’s disability, she also felt inferior as a child. But she did not let this predetermine her future. Early on, Abby was determined to fight her way to success. With the prodding of her family, Abby explored her capabilities. This was when she discovered her passion for swimming and ability to lead. Abby joined swimming competitions. When her classmates learned about this, they asked her to coach the batch for the varsity. Her willingness to help others earned her the presidency in her class and the swim club, further boosting her confidence in her leadership abilities. Through her dad's mentorship, Abby developed her business acumen. Right after graduation, she established Alfox Printing Services in Kamuning Quezon City.

H er dad, a licensed real estate broker, and appraiser, and a past president of PAREB-RBR, also encouraged her to take the licensed broker exam. She passed in 2007. But because of her responsibilities as a business owner, Abby’s real estate career had to take the backseat. Then in 2017, when she founded Brokerspaces Business Solutions Inc (BBSI), a company offering various solutions to real estate businesses, Abby rejoined PAREB-RBR actively as a member. A year later, she was elected as one of the directors. She became the organization's president for 2020 and hold- over for 2021. A life that matters To her many friends and acquaintances, Abby’s life is already far from ordinary. After all, she's already a busy businesswoman and organization leader. But Abby’s desire to help others succeed led her to attend John Maxwell seminars and masterminds led by Ms. Janet Toral, a good friend and mentor.

I n 2018, she became a John Maxwell team member. The next year, she traveled to Florida, the USA, to attend the International Maxwell Certification(IMC) Conference to become a John Maxwell Certified Trainer, Coach, and Speaker. Then, she became a John Maxwell Executive Director in 2020. John Maxwell's people-first teachings influenced Abby as a leader, coach, and trainer in PAREB-RBR as its president and co-chairperson of PAREB-BFF. Paying it forward As her way of saying thanks to the universe for showering her with so many blessings, Abby wants to give back to our beloved organization by sharing the John Maxwell Training Programs for Leadership , Sales, Team, and Personality Development. Her four-part series, \"How to Become a REAL Success,\" started last April 24 via Zoom meetings. In the first meeting, \"Relationships,\" she discussed the vital role of a leader in adding value to people around you. Thus, building positive relationships within an organization.

M eanwhile, in the second meeting, \"Equipping,\" Abby talked about the importance of equipping and developing a team and the power of teamwork. On May 8 and 15, she will discuss \"Attitude\" and \"Leadership,\" respectively. On PAREB's Future She says, \"My goal for each PAREB member is to be intentionally equipped and developed, like myself. I did not allow my disability to stop me from doing and achieving things. I also believe that everyone has their capabilities. They just need to be aware of that.\" With this, Abby is inviting everyone every Saturday at 10 am to attend her John Maxwell talk via ZOOM.
