TIPS O F TH E TAROT 1) PLAYING CARDS FOR PRACTICE: If you’re new to Tarot and don’t have one handy, or you want to learn before spending the money, playing cards can be used. Play- ing cards are handy in helping a young witch to learn and practice interpreting the numbers and suit. However, as playing cards only have 52 cards in a deck, it is highly recommended that once you’re comfortable with interpretation; you purchase a tarot deck that you are drawn to. 2) COMMON TAROT DECKS When buying a tarot deck, ensure that you feel drawn to it. For a beginner, ensure that your first deck has 78 cards. The 78 cards make up the 22 major and 56 minor arcana. Some of the common decks that are popular for beginners are: - The Raider- Waite Deck. This deck is the most common across the globe. The illustrations are simple and are designed to help young witches the art of tarot reading. - The Angel Oracle Deck This deck is perfect for those who know names and representations of angels and archangels. This will make it easier for witches to understand the meaning as each card has an illustration of an angel and their significance. - Renaissance Tarot Deck This deck is illustrated of Gods and Goddess from Greece, including their Roman counterparts. If you love and know your ancient history, you will be easily to interpret witch God/Goddess is speaking to you through the cards. 3) CLEANSE AND BOND WITH YOUR DECK We know it sounds weird, but it is totally worth it. It is said in alot of pop culture such as Harry Potter or The Worst Witch, that magic is not just about tools or words. It is also about feelings. You need to be drawn to the tarot and also feel a connection to it. This connection can be done in many ways, but the most common way is to have the deck close by as you sleep. Cleansing the deck is also important before every use. This can be done by knocking on your deck three times before each use. When you are done place a crystal of your choice on the deck to cleanse negative energy. 4) CARD SPREADS Thinking of the Tarot? You may want to rush and learn the big spreads such as the Celtic cross. Before you do so, start with a three- card spread. This spread is very simple and helps you understand how to focus on the meaning of each card, as well the interpreta- tion when putting all three together. The list below shows what a 3-card spread can show and represent: - Past/ Present/ Future - Now/ Later/ Distant Future - Head/ Heart/ Spirit - Strength/ Weakness/ Advice - Stop/ Start/ Continue - You/ Path/ Potential 6 Photo by Clifford Photography on Unsplash
5) Illustrations 12 3 A common mistake when it comes to Tarot, is that witches Three-card tarot spread tend to focus on the suit and number. It is important to know however, that trying to understand the interpretations can be difficult for a beginner. As you learn through your new tarot deck, interpret the illustrations first. As you lay out the cards, ask yourself these questions: - What do their facial expressions show? - Are they in a relationship? - If so, what kind of relationship, romantic, friendly or family? - Are the cards facing each other? - How are they looking at each other? Is it with love or distaste? - What is their body language saying? - Why is their body facing that way? - Is the Queen of Cups rolling her eyes? Tarot cards are a lot simpler to interpret and understand for what each card represents. In most of the cards, they will show illustrations of everyday life. The body language and position- ing are what you do, this is where you interpret and understand why the cards chose you. DOUBLE TROUBLE, TOIL AND BUBBLE Cauldrons $99.90 7
