Gulf Extrusions Page 3 Magazine Coronavirus disinfection gate installed at Gulfex in Dubai In light of the current pandemic and the necessity of taking the personal health of all employees at Gulfex into account, our team has been able to utilize their knowledge and creativity to design and produce a sanitizing and disinfecting gate in order to decrease the spread of the virus. Gulf Extrusions has installed a sanitization gateway on the 6th of May 2020, which will disinfect all plant staff upon checking in, leaving and returning to their workstations. According to a statement by the company, the walk-through sanitization gate offers an automatic disinfection barrier aimed at killing traces of the virus on people's clothes or their body. The disinfectant system works via a fog gate which sprays staff with an efficient, non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and durable disinfectant. The mist is entirely harmless and dries in seconds, after employees pass through. The gateway is regularly sterilized and cleaned by a team of well-trained specialists from our QHSE Department. The tunnel is equipped with nozzles to be adjusted with the disinfection mist, spraying the whole body of the individual for a duration of 10 seconds. The sanitizing gate is connected to a control system which automatically mixes the sanitizing product at percentages indicated by the manufacturer.
Gulf Extrusions Page 4 Magazine Cleaning and Disinfecting Reminders Cleaning Current evidence suggests that novel coronavirus may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials. Cleaning of visibly dirty surfaces followed by disinfection is a best practice measure for prevention of COVID-19 and other viral respiratory illnesses in vehicles, workplaces and homes. To clean the workplace to reduce the spread of COVID-19, look at your cleaning product. If it says it kills coronavirus on the label, it is EPA-approved and okay to use. Several name-brand products do such as Clorox. First, clean dirt off the surface. Then wipe the surface with disinfectant. Leave the surface you are cleaning wet with disinfectant for as many minutes as the product instructions require. This is a key step that people often miss. It's not enough to just wipe a surface with a rag dampened with disinfectant! What to clean? High-touch areas such as door handles, phones, remote controls, light switches and bathroom fixtures. People often miss these. Surfaces such as countertops, kitchen tables, chairs, desktops and other places where cough droplets could land frequently. Wipes Do not reuse wipes to wipe down multiple surfaces. This can transfer germs from the used wipe to other surfaces. To prevent this, use one wipe for each surface and then throw it out. Do not dry the surface after using the disinfectant wipe. The surface that you are disinfecting will need to stay wet for the amount of time listed on the label. This step is important because the contact time is what is required to kill the germs.
