Sarawak, situated at the northernmost end of Borneo Island southeast of Singapore and at 124,450 KM2 , is the largest state in Malaysia. Two-third of the State are forested with a scenic coastline of 720 kilometers. Asia’s earliest inhabitants was found here 40,000 years ago.
The state capital is Kuching which has a population of 650,000. Major cities include Miri (pop 300,000), Sibu (pop 250,000) , Bintulu (pop 180,000)
State population is 2.4 millions and is divided into 27 ethnic groups. The largest is the Iban (29%), Chinese (24%), Malay (23%), Bidayuh (8%), Melanau (6%), Orang Ulu & sub group (5%)
