Thì quá khứ đơn A. Lý thuyết I. Cách dùng: Thì quá khứ đơn (Past simple tense) dùng để diễn tả một hành động, sự việc diễn ra và kết thúc trong quá khứ. VD: - She came back last Friday. (Cô ấy đã trở lại từ thứ Sáu tuần trước.) - They didn't agree to the deal. (Họ đã không đồng ý giao dịch đó.) - She lived in Tokyo for seven years. (Cô ấy đã sống ở Tokyo trong 7 năm.) - They were in London from Monday to Thursday of last week. (Tuần vừa rồi họ ở London từ thứ Hai đến thứ Năm.) - When I was living in New York, I went to all the art exhibitions I could. (Lúc tôi còn sống ở New York, tôi đã đi xem tất cả các cuộc triển lãm nghệ thuật mà tôi có thể.) II. Các cụm từ thường dùng với thì quá khứ đơn Hay còn gọi là những trạng từ chỉ thời gian, dấu hiệu nhận biệt của thì QKD: - Yesterday - (two days, three weeks) ago(cách đây) - last (night, year, month, week) - in (2002, June) - from (March) to (June) - in the (2000, 1980s) - in the last century - in the past III. Lưu ý: + Ở câu khẳng định:  Khi chia động từ có quy tắc ở thì quá khứ, ta chỉ cần thêm hậu tố “-ed” vào cuối động từ.  Có một số động từ khi sử dụng ở thì quá khứ không theo qui tắc thêm “- ed”(hay còn gọi là bất quy tắc). Những động từ này ta cần học thuộc: do -> did; go -> went; sing -> sang; have -> had; sit -> sat; write -> wrote; stand -> stood; buy -> baught; take -> took; draw -> drew; eat -> ate; come -> came;…. + Câu phủ định ta mượn trợ động từ “did + not” (viết tắt là “didn’t), động từ theo sau ở dạng nguyên thể.) + Câu hỏi ta mượn trợ động từ “did” đảo lên trước chủ ngữ, động từ theo sau ở dạng nguyên thể.
