Retail Park Portlaoise, Co. Laois Architect: HJ Lyons Main Contractor: SISK Anchor Tenant: Homebase Value of Project €15,000,000 Responsibility: Civil & Structural design, supervision and certification of entire development. This flagship 130,000 sq/ft development was designed and constructed between Mid 2006 & Mid 2009. A major part of the overall project involved a section of the Portlaoise Southern Orbital Route, which involved two major roundabouts and had to tie-in to existing roads at both the Eastern and Western ends. Mount Wolseley Hotel,Tullow, Co. Carlow Main Contractor: Richard Houlihan Client: Lismard Developments Ltd. Value of Project: €13,000,000 Responsibility: Structural design and full supervision of construction through to completion This flagship development was undertaken to the highest standards and consisted of a three storey extension to the original property, incorporating 143 rooms, large open plan function room and basement spa. Residential Development, Borris-in-Ossory, Co. Laois Architect: OBK Architects Main Contractor: Gorman Brothers Ltd. Value of Project: €7,500,000 Responsibility: Full Civil & Structural Design and Project Management This 50 unit development presented a number of challenges which required sound, economical Engineering solutions in order to overcome them. The front half the site allowed for normal, strip foundations whilst the rear section required piling to depths of up to 14m. Residential Development, Mountmellick, Co. Laois Architect: Evelyn Duff Architects Main Contractor: Aston Homes Ltd. Value of Project: €6,250,000 Responsibility: Full Civil & Structural Design and Project Management This development, located on the outskirts of Mountmellick Town adjacent to a tributary of the river Barrow on a site of just 5 acres, comprised 50 residential units. The development required the inclusion of a pumping station to deal with the foul water, a surface water attention system catering for the storm water and liaison with the Fisheries Board to minimise the impact of the proposed vehicular entrance on the fish in the river. Road widths within the development were 5m, with units located very close to same. Apartment Development, Portlaoise, Co.Laois Architect: The Ratcliffe Groves Partnership Developer: Oakham Properties Ltd. Value of Project: €5,250,000 Responsibility: Full Civil & Structural Design and Project Management This development consisted of a three storey apartment complex in two separate blocks, located on a confined site directly adjacent to the main Dublin to Cork railway line, which required careful Project Management to ensure that there was no impact to the railway from the site. There are also private houses located to the North side of the site which also had to be taken into account. The construction methodology employed utilised a masonry superstructure with pre-cast conrcete floor slabs at first and second floor level. Warehousing, Portlaoise, Co. Laois Responsibility: Full package from Architectural Design through Civl & Structural Design to Certification. Developer: Warehousing 2000 Value: €4,000,000 This 80,000sq/ft warehouse is located to the East of Portlaoise town adjacent to the N80. Our office was responsible for the entire project, from conception through to certification of the completed structure. The building is over 10m high and almost 140m long by 52m deep. The steel portal frame design allowed for the provision of 8no. 10,000 sq/ft units if required and accordingly incorporated 8 dock levellers along with 8 roller doors. It was also necessary to screen the building from the road adjacent. Various Commerical Developments Responsibility: Full package from Architectural Design through Civl & Structural Design, Project Management to Certification. Developer: Various We have been involved in a large number of Commercial Developments ranging from a 4,000ft2 unit to a 130,000ft2 Retail Park. On the majority of these projects we have provided all of the services associated with bringing a project from conception through to certification, to the satisfaction of our clients. Service Station, Edenderry, Co. Offaly Architect: McArdle Doyle Limited Main Contractor: Eden Developments Ltd. Developer: Mr. Ciaran Mangan Value: €1,750,000 Responsibility: Structural design and supervision of Structural works This project, consisting of a service station and shop development, was located on a site which consisted of peat to depths of approximately 7m. This resulted in the entire development being piled, to depths of up to 22m, with ground beams and a large load transfer slab above. Our design had to take all of the above into account, along with the generated live loads of heavy goods vehicles servicing the development upon completion. Manholes and services also had to be piled. One Off Bespoke Dwelling, Portlaoise, Co. Laois Main Contractor: Oakham Developments Ltd. Responsibility: Full package from Architectural Design through Civl & Structural Design, Project Management to Certification. This 10,000ft2 private dwelling featured a number of challenging structural elements, not least an underground tunnel to connect the main dwelling to the pool house. The main dwelling also has a basement beneath the full footprint of the ground floor which contains guest bedrooms, a full bar and snooker room among other amenities. Below ground structure was constructed of cast in-situ concrete with structural masonry above. Various One Off Bespoke Buildings/Dwellings Responsibility: Full range of services from Architectural Design through Civl & Structural Design, Project Management to Certification. We have been involved in a number of high profile, high quality projects of a private, commercial and community nature, from conception through to certification in a number of instances. These projects have included: - Portlaoise Parish Centre, The Cuisle Centre and the complete refurbishment of Portlaoise Parish Church. Civil Engineering Projects Responsibility: From green field site through Design, Construction and Certification. We have provided full Civil Engineering services for a large number of projects, of varying complexities. These have included the full design of a section of the Portlaoise Southern Orbital route, including two roundabouts and entrances into a large retail park.
