Writing Workshop 7:50 - 8:30• Mini lesson Mentor text, share a writing of my own or other students, highlighting the learning objective. Independent Practice• Write for 20 minutes at this stage, practicing the the learning objective• Groups pulled together who are all working towards the same goal• Sharing Students are taught to share their writing, in partnerships, groups or to their• whole class. We practice giving and receiving ideas to and from their peers.• 10 Minute Challenge Students are shown a random photograph from my collection. They then have 2 minutes thinking time, 2 minutes talking time, and 10 minutes writing time.
Snack! 8:30 - 8:40* As much a learning time as the rest of the day* Every Tuesday students make their own snack* Students may bring their own snack, however it is an opportunity for them to follow their peers and perhaps try new things!* If they do bring their own snack, try to replicate what they would have at school; fruit and a sandwich* There is a strict no nuts policy on campus.* Help at home by encouraging your child to be independent. Teach them to make their own simple food, help with cooking and always have them pour their own drinks. If they spill, ask them what they need to do to clear it up.* Model healthy eating habits, and never make comments which link eating to weight or body image.
