This sketchbook is meant to give insight into Rokia’s personal style choices. It includes some of her early works and quotes from her.

In this piece we get a good idea and introduction to Rokia’s process as an artist. A simple outline is done and then covered with more detail in some areas and left more essential in others. “ I encourage art to be done in pen. It keeps all mistakes and mistakes are Art” - R.W.

Rokia enjoys experimenting with opposites in her works. This piece displays that very well. Her use of not only opposing angles but colors as well creates a very vivid and strong piece.. “When I created the opposing salamanders I really wanted to show how two completely different things could occupy the same space and somehow still create a feeling of equality” - R.W.

Rokia’s style draws heavy inspiration from the styles of romanticism and expressionism. What this means is her work has a heavy emphasis on the beauty of nature (romanticism) but it also takes it’s own liberties to reflect how natures is viewed thru the eyes of the artist (expressionism)
