Celebrating BUTEC ENERGIES & SERVICES 1st Anniversary 01.04.2023 Quartely Newsletter - Issue 1 3
Head of Communications Quarterly Message: The month of March marked the end of our 1st quarter. Our business has been buzzing with celebrations, from the successful relocation of our offices, the 50th anniversary of one of our divisions, staff promotions and the graduation of our apprentices. This year has seen many changes in our organization, including the relocation of enterprises from Cape Town, Durban to Johannesburg Head Office. While we celebrate a successful relocation, we also recognize the teamwork displayed by the majority of our staff during the move. Reorganizing businesses, whether that is of resources or structural, has been at the forefront of our first quarter. The CEO workshop organized in Beirut on the 9th and 10th of January by our Group President, Mr. Ziad Younes, aimed to align and consolidate all BUTEC African enterprises. The BUTEC Energies & Services (BES) Consolidation Conference was conducted in Morocco in February for various African entities. The management of Thermaire and Ampair South Africa is embarking on a journey to reorganize its operations in order to maximize, centralize and consolidate all of its energies, efforts, and resources. We celebrated a new season, a month of love, and a commemoration of Human Rights month in the first quarter of 2023. As we continue to celebrate the success of our employees and our businesses, T&A has several categories in which they would like to celebrate: The following categories are at the top of our mind, our learners who have completed their Apprenticeship program, our employees who have been promoted to senior management roles, and business leaders who have been awarded contracts from various divisions, the 50th celebration of our Ductshop division. 4 Quartely Newsletter - Issue 1

As a long-time employee at Duct Shop, Victor Sithebe has watched it grow, evolve, and change since 1975. Initially, there were many departments like electrical and spring club piping, but the duct shop has remained a constant. Currently, Victor is working as a quality controller and dispatch supervisor after working as a casual after school. In his opinion, working onsite and doing installations has given him a lot of experience. As a result of Victor’s hard work and precision, onsite and workshop management fought to work with him. Respect is Victor’s motor; he believes everyone deserves respect, from general workers, co-workers to higher management. Brotherhood is one of the many elements of Ductshop that Victor appreciates. In 1987, Chris Molemohi worked at the Ductshop, initially as a store controller and then trained as an Artizan for four years before moving to the workshop to work with ducting, manufacturing, and piping. Later, he worked in the workshops and then on-site installation. At the moment, he is the production planner. Chris is versatile. Currently, Thomas Molemohi is a workshop supervisor. He was hired as a temporary employee in 1994, loading trucks and assembling ducting. He was permanently hired in 2005. He says that working at the duct shop has developed him as a person, allowing him to effectively handle different personalities and situations. Through changes such as relocations, new management, and different ways of working, Thomas has become a stronger person. The senior Sheetmetal operator Paulos Msibi joined the company as a casual worker in 2000, then became a permanent employee in 2006. In addition to being knowledgeable about the activities in the duct shop, Paulos has ambitions to learn and do more. His says experience could be improved if the company provided more. Despite this, one cannot help but be grateful for the closeness and skills shared by the Ductshop workers. Quartely Newsletter - Issue 1 11

INING CENTRE the specialist design and supply business, was established in 2013 and initially only used for in house purposes. It was quickly realised, however, of the need to extend training outward as there continued to be skills shortage in the industry, but further to that, another major factor was an opportunity to uplift the local community. Today, the training centre is able to service not only in house teams, but other contracting company’s teams, facility management providers, and even private clients. “The focus of our training centre is not merely to provide training, but to ensure a safe environment for every individual. Our skills development Centre- had 40 YES program students as well as 10 apprentices that graduated during this period. We have been fortunate enough to register an additional 42 YES program students in 2023. Quartely Newsletter - Issue 1 15
CHANGES ON Thermaire/Ampair is proud to introduce the formation of a Testing/Commissioning, Controls and BMS team. This team is a stand-alone division available to serve both T&A’s Testing/Commissioning, Controls and BMS needs. This scope has historically been outsourced, but due to the scarcity in the industry, the formation of this division has been identified as a need to further strengthen the company’s offerings. They are currently assisting on the Teraco JB4, JB3 and soon the CT2 projects. Heater Fabrication is also underway for Teraco by members of this team. They are also assisting Ampair with BMS and Controls on some of their projects. If the services of this team is required by and division, they can contact Duane Braund. We look forward to the growth and integration of this division within our business. 16 Quartely Newsletter - Issue 1

THINK SAFE ACT SAFE The term “environmental awareness” 1. Why Is an Environmental Awareness Campaign Important? The increase in greenhouse gas emissions has led to the greenhouse effect, which has led to global warming. These gases also cause water, air, and land pollution. Hence, we must improve our environment and ensure that our behaviour contributes to its sustainability. It ensures that citizens are knowledgeable and sound, and ready to make critical decisions to ensure that the world has sufficient natural resources that depend on our economy and enhanced living. A high level of environmental knowledge is associated with environmental friendliness and conservation behaviour. TOWSHAAVTE CTHAENPILDAONE?T 1. Unplug the appliances: when not in use. 2. TECH BYTES NETWORK FAILOVER We are still in a process of implementing a failover microwave link. In a failover situation involving a network device such as a firewall and fibre line, data is transferred to the same type of redundant component to ensure there is limited interruption in data flow and operation. If a primary component becomes unavailable because of either failure or scheduled downtime, the secondary component serves as a backup and takes over for its failed counterpart.
